Star Games (November 1980)
Joe Dredd
I remember this from one of the Horizon club compilation VHS tapes...

Jacquie Pearce, Paul Darrow & Darth Vader: Click!

This is very entertaining to watch. Sort of like an ITV version of Superstars.

Thank you, that was fun!

There's an obstacle course with Paul Darrow from about 16:10 which reminded me of the race to Central Control, only Paul fell off the monkey bars. Smile

Then there was a football match which reminded me of Monty Python's philosophers' match. Both Paul and Jackie were there but not in focus, you couldn't see them clearly.

But then there was a tug-of-war where Paul and Jackie were pulling together, at about 38:10. And it had a piece of vital information for "Orbit" as it listed weights of all the participants. Avon weighed 71.5 kilos, less than Vila! Not counting leather and studs of course. Smile

Now that you mention it, there might have been an alternative way to end Orbit:

AVON: What weighs 70 kilos?
ORAC: Your leather and studs weigh 73 kilos.
Avon strips naked, puts his clothes in the airlock and throws them overboard.
Or heroes are safe. Our Avon ladies are delighted.

Ah, if only... Also, Vila's digs would weigh at least 4-5 pounds - more ladies would've been delighted if he too helped to lighten the load.

That would have been be a more legal reason to ban the series from the 1981 Dutch telly than the one we got...
(now suddenly I feel the need to draw some certain artwork)

Oops, it's 72 kilos as I misread the weight in pounds: 159lb, not 158. Still less than 73.

It's funny how tv shows go in and out of fashion. A show like Star Games would never get commissioned these days since most reality shows now feature celebs either dancing, skating, singing or a combination of all three.

There's an Avon/Vila fanfic that uses that scenario.
I used to be such a sweet sweet thing
Till they got a hold of me.
