General question, are there places to get refreshments at the location or do we bring our own?

Hello Moon Disk!

I can confirm that there will be refreshments available at Maximum Power, true Brit style, with a Fish'n' Chip van in the car park and hot drinks and cakes in the smaller hall. Gluten free and vegetarian options will be available.

Additionally, there are two pubs that serve food (Cherry Tree and The Fox), and one that has the usual pub snacks of nuts and crisps (The North Star), along with a village shop (Co-op) a few yards from the venue that sells everything you would expect from a village shop. Steventon is also blessed with an artisan bakery (Farmhouse Bakery and cafe) and a farm shop at the top of the hill (Q-Gardens).

A mile away is a Macdonalds, a Costa Coffee, a Beefeater, a Harvester and a M&S food shop/ garage.

However, do feel free to bring your own refreshments if preferred - there's no microwave on site, but there will be plenty of hot water for Pot Noodles etc!

tl: dr - no one is going to starve.

Thanks for that, plenty of options. I don't think I'll be going hungry Grin

Hi all

Looking forward to meeting up with friends old and new shortly, it should be a great day. I'll be around on the Saturday as well, but will be running around setting stuff up but will try and pop in to the pub to say hello to the assembled throng at some point.

Can I also take this opportunity to remind attendees to get your order in soon, if you'd like one of our fab convention tshirts, see flyer below for the details:

Woo-Hoo! Michael Keating! So we have Mike, Paul Darrow, Jan Chappell, Stephen Greif, plus June Hudson and Mat Irvine. I'd call that one heck of a convention! Looking so forward to seeing our actors and guests and above all, our friends once again! Not long now, gang. Grin

Likewise, looking forward to seeing you too Paula, Brad and everyone.

Also, the man responsible for the future of Blake's 7 will be there as well, Mr John Ainsworth.

Lets all do Jacqueline proud on the 23rd.

Even if you can't be at the event in person join it in spirit and pop on your favourite Blake's 7 DVD, CD or break out the books and celebrate the best damn show ever!

Sorry- missed out John Ainsworth. And to think Brad and I are going to attend our first Big Finish day in Derby, the day before Maximum Power and both Jan Chappell and John Ainsworth will be there also! We'll have to go up and introduce ourselves and tell them we'll see them the next day! How's that for fans? LOL

Excellent news - and that's a fab music vid, Andy!

Coincidentally, I've just been enjoying this - Michael Jackson's drummer performing Smooth Criminal. Check it out - he's AWESOME!

Thank you so much!!

Can I just say this fandom is full of wonderful people who truly make you feel welcome!

I live in Steventon and will be happy to stake out an area in the Cherry Tree to welcome newcomers. I'll speak to the landlord to get an area reserved.

It is such a wonderful idea, thank you! Perfect place to meet up for new people, I'll certainly be going there on Saturday.

Meegat, I plan to come early on Saturday, at about 2-3PM as well. I'll be taking a bus from Oxford, it stops right by Village Hall, and I'm staying close to it.
Would be happy to meet up and take a walk in the countryside if it's a nice weather, or to hang out at the pub.

Right that sounds like a plan! I'd probably opt for the pub Grin Anyone else??

I'm afraid I wont be arriving at my hotel till fairly late on Saturday as I'm out on a walk in Sussex during the day.

Unfortunately my plans have had to change so I will no longer be staying in the Premier Inn at Didcot. Instead I shall now be driving from my home in Chippenham, Wilts to Steventon on the day. However as Didcot is on the way, I can still pick people up from the hotel on Sunday morning and give people lifts to Didcot train station after the event.

BradPaula
Thank you Richard, for your kindness offering to pick up people from Didcot station and the hotel.. Anyone needing a ride? Please contact Richard Mk2 for details.

As the time draws near I have the same question as before CA 4.0 last year.
Would it be possible to buy/trade fanzines at the event? Would the kind Horizon folks run the trading table again like at CA?

I'd like to buy some of the Horizon fanzines I missed last time, and I'm also looking for "Trooper Orac's Fantastic Plastic Army" and couple of other things which were impossible to find on E-Bay.

Should I start a separate thread on it in case there are more people interested in 'zines?

I won't have a Horizon sales table this time but happy to take any pre-orders of zines or any other Horizon merchandise.

I'll be staying in Steventon on Saturday evening - count me in for pub dinner & meet-up - so people can collect whatever they've pre-ordered Saturday night or Sunday. Just let me know via PM or the horizon email address.

Anyone wanting an emailed copy of the zine list to help you decide, again just let me know. Maybe good to have a new thread if people are interested - call it Horizon merchandise at Maximum Power if there are more of you interested so it doesn't take over this thread...

I just want to say to everyone to enjoy the event. I won't be attending due to lack of money (I live on my own now, so I need to cover the rent and bills) and I recently lost my grandmother (89), so I do not feel that I would be able to retain my composure (it takes a lot to make me cry). Sad

BradPaula
We're very sorry for your loss, Sweevo. Thinking of you and all the best!

Thanks, BP. I try to think that there is a triumph in death - a symbol of a life well lived. I'll recover, but not right away, and if you're going, then I hope you enjoy the event.

Hi all

As we approach the final countdown to Maximum Power, I wanted to let you know that we've just added another 6 colours to the available t-shirt range. These are:

Details are on the flyer or just PM me for more info. Anyone who has already ordered a shirt, but who may fancy a different colour can also just message me with an update and I will amend their order. I will be taking orders up to Tuesday 11 June.

Thanks and see you all soon.
