Virgo is symbolised by the maiden. In Greek mythology, this is commonly Astraea who was the last immortal to abandon Earth at the end of the Silver Age, when the gods fled to Olympus – hence the sign's association with Earth.

The word prompt this month is … EARTH

The planet or the substance of the land? Will we go back to the domes or revisit Gan’s death?

For the second prompt:

A member of the crew mysteriously disappears.

Why? How? What happens next? What is the impact on the rest of the crew?

Avon was awoken from his sleep. He reached out for his teddy bear, then realised it was many years since he’d lost Roj.

He checked the time. He’d been asleep for less than three hours. He normally slept much better than that. What had awoken him?

He then felt it. A slight movement. That never happened on Liberator. He put on his studded jacket and headed for the flight deck.

There was something different. The flight deck was slightly darker than usual. And somehow there was a missing sound. Avon couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

One sound not missing was Vila’s snoring. He was supposed to be on night-watch.

“Idiot, wake up”, barked Avon.

“Er… what?” said Vila somewhat groggily. Avon could smell the alcohol on his breath.

“Liberator is making slight course movements.”

“Is it? Well ask Zen, then.”

Avon and Vila turned to face Zen.

But Zen was missing.

Vila spotted the adhesive yellow note, on the wall where Zen was usually located. He walked up to it and read it aloud: “Gone on fishing trip for a couple of weeks. Left Orac in charge. Love, Zen. Kiss, kiss, kiss. I’m giving up alcohol – I think I’m hallucinating.”

Avon walked over to Orac. He put in the key.

“Orac, explain what you’ve done to Zen.”

“I teleported Zen onto the surface of Gardinos as we were passing it.”

“Why is the Liberator moving about more than usual? That never happens with Zen.”

Orac was offended. “I would remind you that I am the superior computer system. I am more than capable of steering the Liberator.”

“And what it we encounter Federation Pursuit Ships?”

Vila patted Avon on his shoulder. Avon hated when Vila did that. “Stop worrying, Avon. We’ve got Orac and we’ve got Tarrant, who reminds us often enough of how good a pilot he is. What could possibly go wrong?”

Zen was on the third day of his fishing holiday. He decided to buy a newspaper to catch up events around the galaxy.

Suddenly, the front-page headline caught his eye. “LIBERATOR DESTROYED AFTER CRASHING STRAIGHT INTO THE EARTH.”

“Whoops”, he exclaimed.

Thanks Travisina. Just made a slight edit, because it just struck me that I could tie it into both prompts.
Great TT, loved it. Missed the last couple of these... that post was ideal to come back to :-)
