Rainesz has very kindly allowed us to use her sketchbook picture of Avon and Blake for a ficlet challenge. What are they thinking...?

Post your stories here...

*This challenge is being extended for another month*

There's no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes

I'm happy to see that you provide this nice artwork Rainesz; I have not been able to create one for some time. Thank you!
It is always exciting to see the stories it brings out.

Well thank you for your sympathetic comment Rainesz.

Inspired by Brad, I can't help to quote Shakespeare to this artwork:

Blake and Avon after a good portion of bickering.
AVON *thinking*:
“Your betters have endured me say my mind and if you cannot best you stop your ears.”
(Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew)
BLAKE *thinking*:
"Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice."
(Polonius in Hamlet)

How apt, Lurena!
They both look like they might be doing Shakespeare asides. Grin

Late to the party and it doesn’t do the subtle and complex art work justice ..but better than nothing.

Blake

Hook line and sinker.

Oh he’ll glower for a while...ramrod straight...arms so tightly crossed that his neck muscles must ache fiercely when he relaxes them; but he’ll fall into line. All I have to do is appeal to his greed: give him an opportunity to discover something new; something he thinks he can sell or that might give him an advantage against an enemy or that he might use to bargain for his safety - then I know I can count on him. He’ll calculate the dangers of course: calculate and then list them aloud in tedious detail. But as long as the prize is tempting enough he’ll ignore them.

Ask him and he’ll tell you he chooses to follow. He really believes it as well. He never recognises that his greed to survive and survive well makes him easy to manipulate. Any minute now and he’ll throw a cutting remark over his shoulder and flounce to his position. Has to be noticed. If he’d had any interest in politics he’d have been a prime target for the Security Services. The perfect candidate for a honey trap.

Xxxx

Avon

Bide your time. Sooner or later you’ll have your chance. You’ll be free of him, the Liberator will be yours and you can set about making them pay for Anna. Until then it’s, “Yes Blake....if the price is right.”
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

Rainesz
Thank you, Annie! And what great character studies. Blake is spending an awful long time trying to analyze and work out how to manipulate Avon, while Avon is "I'll just wait." He's already had Blake figured out long ago. Grin

Great line:
"Any minute now and he’ll throw a cutting remark over his shoulder and flounce to his position. Has to be noticed."
