40th Anniversary Location Visits
clareblues1
I suspect it won't be possible to fit in visits to all of the places used as filming locations, however I hope we can arrange visits to some of the well known ones and these are:

Box Hill footbridge, Surrey
Black Park, Buckinghamshire
Clearwell Caves and Puzzlewood, Forest of Dean
Abingdon Folly, Oxfordshire
Pyrton Hill and Village Hall, Oxfordshire
Almscliffe Crag, Yorkshire
Thruscross Reservoir Dam, Yorkshire
Greenhow Hill Quarry, Yorkshire
How Stean Gorge, Yorkshire
Plumpton Rocks, Yorkshire
Winspit Quarry, Dorset
Wookey Hole Caves, Somerset
Quex Park, Kent

After a recent conversation with Paula and my desire to give Brad and Paula the opportunity to join in one of these outings while they're over in September for CA4...we've provisionally set a date of Saturday 6th October for a visit to Black Park in Buckinghamshire, so this is the first officially announced date. As this will most likely be the final visit for the year I'll be working backwards date wise and will post a list below and add to it as I go along.

Black Park, Buckinghamshire - Saturday 6th October

*EDIT*

More dates for your diary...

The 5 Yorkshire locations - weekend of 18/19 August
Abingdon folly + Pyrton Hill & Village Hall - Saturday 28 July
Clearwell Caves & Puzzlewood - Saturday 23 June
Winspit Quarry - Saturday 19 May
Box Hill - Saturday 28 April

Seeing as I will now have to pester dearest Hubby (I don't like driving long distances anymore) I will have to check with his calendar. But Oxford and Wookey are do-able. I'll sweet talk him!!!
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

Was there ever a confirmed location (aside from "a forest in Camberley"Wink for the exterior scenes in Blake?

winnie-l
Some archive B7 locations info says, for episode "Blake":
Forest, Camberley, Nr. Woking, Berkshire

Does "Nr. Woking" mean "near Woking" or is "Nr" something else?
And if it does mean "near Woking" - is that enough info to find it? ("The forest")

winnie-l
Black Park, Buckinghamshire
The Web - Forest & lab exterior; Bounty - Road & checkpoint

Hmm, one wonders if B7 screencaps can help identify certain places, or whether it'll just all be all sort of ... forest-y...?

Fantastic, scary to think Karyn and I have been to all of those locations, except for Black Park, tried and failed once.

Would love to revisit some with fellow fans, and obviously try again for Black Park.

Wookey Hole is on our doorstep so that shouldn't be a stretch, date depending.

Well done Clare, your Blake Tours are fab.

Well, if anyone is over here for a couple of weeks for CA4, they can always pop down and see me for a day. Swanwick station is just down the road.

I hope to join you for some of these visits. I have been to most. The ones I haven't visited are Box Hill, Black Park and Winspit Quarry.

It’s a tricky location but we did find the clearing where the lab was set up in The Web the last time we were there

You’re welcome Andy! Hope you can make this one!

Righty’o, I’ve added more dates above...I think this is probably as many as we can realistically fit in this year...however for those locations not on the list this time...they aren’t going to run away so plenty of fodder for 2019!

Winspit Quarry is nice. It was also used in the Dr Who stories "Underwater Menace" (Patrick Troughton) and "Destiny of the Daleks".

I can't do 28th April but may be able to make some of the other dates.

Abingdon Folly 28th July is okay with me. I've just asked his highness and he said yes.
But can someone help pull me up that hill??? Last time I got halfway and had to sit down!!! Have they installed one of those ski lifts there yet????

And Box Hill to on 28th April

Abingdon 28th July probably okay for me.
Not Box Hill on 28th April, though.

Thanks for organising these, Clare - you're a shining star!
