I love the running gag about Vila having bad teleport landings! I wonder if Chris Boucher wrote them in.

I wouldn't be surprised. One of the jobs of a script editor is to ensure consistency between episodes / series.

Avon using Vila and Dayna as bait - and Tarrant going along with it!

Tarrant doesn't like Vila, and there's a new pretty one (to use Keiller's phrase) on board. Soolin starts to come into her own this episode - at last!

She does have a bit more to do in this.

Unfortunately, Animals hardly features her at all. Mind you, even Avon and Vila aren't in Animals much...

And Dayna probably wishes she wasn't, either!

It's undeniable that the pace of this episode does sag in the middle. Although I guess many of us aren't too bothered about long, lingering shots of Soolin, Avon and Tarrant Wink

I do wonder if the negative memory of Animals is one reason that Josette doesn't want to do Dayna again.

It's a bit patchy throughout. The mix of comedy, tension, drama and weirdness (the Space Rats as a society doesn't really work for me) - is uneven.

Dunno. It's not what she said at her 'Afternoon with...' - she might have found other things objectionable.

I wonder what Atlan is if he's not a Space Rat?

Weirdly accented, that's for sure!
Good question, though. (Files in brain under 'ficlet ideas' Wink )

Dayna gets a good run in the first four episodes of this season. Here she's smart and clever.

So what happened to Plaxton's assistant?

They couldn't afford to pay the actor for another day's filming?

I reckon he went off to live in a cave, like Obi Wan.

Space Doors PLC must make a fortune! All the surface doors on all the planets are definitely designed by the same company.

And now for the finale...

Travisina
Here we go.

Does this episode mark another point in Avon's downward trajectory? From his near-fatal error of judgement at the beginning, to cheerfully sacrificing Dayna & Vila, to his callous 'Who?' at the end, he is Not A Nice Person - nor particularly clever - in this ep.

I don't see that Avon had much choice here. It was Dr Plaxton die or they ALL die... his callous reaction at the end is SHOCKING though....

All together now... "There's a distant star..."
