Hello, this is just to inform you that there is now a group on Facebook dedicated to Blake's 7 Fanfiction: https://www.faceb...741185308/ There are other groups for fanfiction writers on FB, but it seems that no one in them has even heard of Blake's 7, so you feel like an alien when you post there ![]() Please help by joining in, posting the links to your stories, recommendations, reviews, etc. Also, spread the word. Cheers ![]() (Mod Edit to make link clickable) - JustBrad Edited by JustBrad on 10 November 2017 19:43:28 |

Speaking as someone who is not on Facebook - I'm pleased that you've set up a group dedicated to B7 Fanfiction - the more the merrier! It would also be lovely if you could direct people over here, maybe invite them to join in the monthly ficlet challenges? Thanks!

Thank you! Those are great ideas. I've already posted a link to the Horizon fanfic archive, but will invite people to join in the challenges and the forum, too. |

I hope you will :) To my knowledge, this is currently the only group for B7 fiction on Facebook. But it needs to become larger before we can have some quality discussion. |

The group is now 10 days old and has around 50 members :) There are some fanfiction recommendations and some discussions going on. I hope more people will visit and join in: https://www.faceb...741185308/ |

Is there any chance you could make the page publicly viewable, like Twitter? Hi, thank you for your interest :) The setting chosen for this group is not "public" but "closed". This means that only the people who are in the group can see the contents. The reason for this is that some of the early members told me they wouldn't want their fandom self to be so closely related to their public self. I have the same problem -- lots of my students are on Facebook, and I wouldn't exactly want them to know that their teacher is mad about Blake's 7 and involved in writing and reading fanfic :) As Gandalf says, you never know who's watching, and it is one of the issues I have with Facebook! Perhaps this is also one of the reasons you don't want to sign up? No problem though -- when something interesting happens there, I'll report it here, and vice versa :) |

Welcome and thank you! By any chance, are you the same author who uses the pseudonym "Akisame8" on AO3? I thought you might be because of your avatar :) |

Just a short update to let you know that Blakes 7 Fanfiction group on Facebook has now reached 100 members. It still isn't very much in Facebook proportions, but it isn't bad either for our good old fandom :) While there are quite a few members who are actively writing and posting their B7 stories, I also include, several times a week, short reviews of some vintage stories from the times of paper zines (along with excerpts, pics and links if they're available online). Of course, this info is also available on Fanlore, but Facebook has its advantages when it comes to communicating and sharing. Here is the link if you want to join: https://www.faceb...741185308/ Happy Holidays! Edited by Travisina on 27 December 2017 20:16:06 |

Rojroj, I've edited your post above to make the link clickable. Which I admit I did through gritted teeth, because I'm not on Facebook, and can't read anything that's posted there. For the sake of all the non-FB members (I'm know I'm not the only one) - is there any chance you could adjust the settings to make the page viewable to all? Twitter: @TravisinaB7

Apologies about the link, and thank you for editing :) I appreciate that this is inconvenient for people who don't use Facebook -- but on the other hand, I'm really worried that some members would feel uncomfortable or even leave if I changed the settings to "public" so that everyone can see and read the posts. Can we discuss some alternatives? I could post some kind of weekly digest here, with links and reviews, perhaps? I wouldn't want to bother people by posting about the group too often, though. If you have some other suggestions, let me know. |

Without seeing the posts I can't gauge whether people may feel uncomfortable if their contributions were open for all to read, but I would have thought that people may welcome the opportunity for their fan fic (and discussions) to reach a wider readership? If it's not too much trouble for you, I'd be very pleased to see a regular digest with links and reviews - and I'm sure others would, too. Twitter: @TravisinaB7

OK, here is a digest of the group's activities between 21-27 Dec. Vintage stories reviewed: "How to be Topp on the Libaratar" by Neil Faulkner and "A Little Knowledge" by Una McCormack. HOW TO BE TOPP ON THE LIBERATAR by Neil Faulkner was first published in Star Four, ed. by Judith Proctor, in 2000. It is a humorous story written in the style of Nigel Molesworth, which means that most words are spelled or used incorrectly. The story is told from Avon's point of view. http://www.blakes...icle_id=76 A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE by Una McCormack was first published in The Aquitar Files, ed. by Reba Bandyopadhyay and Loulou Harris, in 1996. On a planet called Tythis, Avon gets separated from the rest of the crew and for a while everybody believes he is dead. During that period some crucial things happen to him that will have consequences for the rest of his life. https://web.archi...ledge.html New stories posted by members: 1. On Gauda Prime Day (21 Dec) Natasha posted a story which takes place on Gauda Prime, titled Endgame: https://archiveof...rks/220652 2. Drasko posted a B7 poem: https://www.faceb...8552483560 3. Igenlode posted a link to her work in progress, a novel which is a crossover between B7 and The Phantom in the Opera: https://www.fanfi...10640572/1 4. Sara Lopez shared her story "The Liberator Came Travelling", originally posted as her entry to Horizon's Advent Calendar: https://archiveof...s/13128978 In the news section, there is a new challenge on b7friday -- to write a PGP story but to make it hopeful: https://b7friday....44636.html Some other topics which the members discussed: interesting criticism/feedback they got for their stories, and "it was the clone" scenario in fics dealing with Gauda Prime. |

Thank you, Rojroj - much appreciated! Here's a further idea - if you could set up a dedicated thread for these digests, I'll link to it on our front page Roundup, as I do for our rewatches, ficlet challenges etc. I'm also happy to tweet the link (as long as nobody objects?). Cheers ![]() Twitter: @TravisinaB7

Pleasure :) Thank you for your ideas, I'll give them some thought. Here on Horizon, as well as on AO3, or LJ or DW, people use pseudonyms, but Facebook demands using one's full name and surname, so it's not the same. I'm not sure if everyone in the group would agree with making these entries more public. |

That's just one of the many reasons I refuse to sign up to FB! I like being pseudonymous on the web, and am 'Travisina' here and 'TravisinaB7' on Twitter. I'm happy that those out there who know who I am IRL know who I am IRL (if you see what I mean), but I don't want to reveal my identity to the internet at large. If people in your FB group prefer not to go public with their names, I understand and won't publicise it further. Twitter: @TravisinaB7
