I'll vote for Terminal. Although Blake is a corker, especially if you like 5th series fan fic!
Zil: Oneness must resist the Host.

Blake. Devastating, but unforgettable. Even after all these years, still rates highly on general 'best end of series' polls. Star One is a close second. Twitter: @TravisinaB7

This is really tough one and something I had to take factors into consideration. Blake is the ultimate end of series cliffhanger for any show to go out on, but it was the final series not a cliffhanger leading into a "how will they get out of that?" next year. Terminal was designed as the end of the show so the design of that cliffhanger was to finish the show and not a "how will they get out of that?" next year cliffhanger. Therefore, I go with Star One. This cliffhanger is the culmination of a tension building episode all leading up to the final scene with the lights low, the build up of incidental music, close up of the crew on the flight deck and the powerful "Fire" from Avon accompanied by a fanfare of music from Dudley Simpson which neatly slides into the end theme music. Star One really works as an end of season cliffhanger, Blake is a total "WTF" moment and Terminal is an end which has a door left open for future stories. The cliffhanger to Orac never really worked for me. The idea Orac was predicting Liberator's destruction at the end of the first series didn't feel dramatic enough. The series was to return so therefore the ship wasn't going to be destroyed. It felt like one of those Doctor Who cliffhangers when the Doctor is apparently killed. |

Isn't the cliffhanger to Orac that the actual Liberator was blown up? It's only at the start of Redemption that it's revealed it was merely the image on the screen. |

It's only at the start of Redemption that it's revealed it was merely the image on the screen. I never got that impression, it always seemed clear that Orac projected an image of the Liberator on the screen, said "Space vehicle will be destroyed" and after a few bits from the crew, Blake is looking at the screen when he mentions the prediction is still being made, Jenna looks at the screen when she calls Blake. The cut to the ship exploding was something I always took to be a further image from the screen. |

Star One. It's a real cliff hanger. Really important things are unresolved. Orac is a cliff hanger, but it's more like an old Flash Gordon Cliff hanger where the resolution doesn't live up to the cliff. Terminal is not a cliff hanger, it is the resolution of the S3 arc, and would have made a fine end to the series. Blake is a cliff hanger that hedges its bets, doing double duty as a cliff hanger and series finale. |

Watching last night's Star One, I remembered being really miffed that I would have to wait a WHOLE year, almost, to find out what would happen in the next series. There is another end of season cliffhanger I can recall...the episode of Doomwatch in which Toby Wren failed to defuse the bomb at the end of the pier... Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold. Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!! sues stories http://sjlittle.w... sues youtube channel http://www.youtub...e54/videos sues book shelf https://www.media...ne%20Shelf rebel run video http://www.youtub...prqS-XZtLo Lara and Sue's Stories http://lectorisal....webs.com/ |

Orac's 'prophecy' is: Starship will be destroyed! It never mentions Libby. The only foreshadowing to this in Redemption is when the Alta's refer to Libby as DSV2, implying to the attentive viewer that there is another Skywalker, er, Liberator class vessel. It's all rather Flash Gordon like. Recall the old serials where you would see the hero fall off the cliff and plummet to his death, and in the next episode he manages to catch onto a ledge that wasn't there originally. |

I've always wondered if that played a role in the BBC's decision to renew the series despite no longer having the title character available. We can't call it Blake's 7 if Blake isn't in it! We can't end a series on that kind of cliff hanger and not resolve it! Of course, two years later.... This is one of the many things that makes B7 unique, even today. How many shows in the history of Television have been able to carry on multiple seasons without the title character? Yeah, I know they replaced Charlie's Angels all the time, and B5 replaced Sinclair with Sheridan, but it was Babylon 5, not Sinclair's Space Station. |

Star One. Blake is just the end, not really a cliffhanger, Terminal is not either, as no one is in imminent danger. Star One does it for me everytime! Terrific! |

Now you're really showing your age!! I actually enjoyed watching these serials on BBC2 many years ago. King of the Rocket Men (well actually, there was ONE Rocket man), and Crash Corrigan..who wore a huge helmet and was always hiding behind things, but he could be clearly seen 'cos of that flaming helmet!! They also had huge 'dustbins' running around...forunners of the Hugbot??? Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold. "Orac" is the weakest - it's more of a "What the hell was that!?" moment as opposed to genuine buttock-clenching suspense. |
