Doctor Who Is Dead

I hope I don't get yelled at for this, but the person sitting on the couch next to me watching last evening (figure that out!) said as the Doctor regenerated and then promptly lost control of the TARDIS and plummeted out into space- "women drivers!.

We have a light-hearted analysis show called "Whovians" which follows on after Doctor Who (albeit on ABC2, a related channel). They had a Christmas special to follow last night's Capaldi exit and Cal Wilson made that remark too!

I see there are already comments that all the papers falling out of the TARDIS are old Moffat scripts. I've also seen a gif with "Moffat junk" (not my words) falling out too - the guitar, sunglasses, River Song, etc.
Oh boy.

I wonder if there could have been a reason for the control loss? Maybe the navigational circuits are fried?

Wouldn't that be a shame. Maybe the Doctor could take it back to Galifrey, leave it where it could get repaired [possibly including the Chameleon circuit too, only to find that the first incarnation has stolen it.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars."
