Crossbow. Avon obviously took lessons from Dayna.

Then it's definitely Betchworth quarry, as Sheelagh Welles told us about all the buddlia growing there.

Hi Zonda! Yes, they were freezing cold - Dickon remembered being very impressed by their fortitude.

Argh - I hate this dialogue. 'A man's strength is always greater than a woman's.' No, it isn't always. There are strong women and weak men - and the relative strength/weakness isn't always physical. THAT SCENE IS RUBBISH!
But I like the one that follows with Nina & Gun-Sar.

Yes, the one that displays them as a loving couple, and Nina having much of the "Power".

I think Avon is deliberately testing Pella. He normally treats the sexes as equal... and he will shoot a woman as easily as a man Wink

Agreed. I think it is the worst text of the whole Blake's 7 epos.

Hello. I'm probably a few mins behind you - Cato has just been crossbowed by Avon. Shame he was a good character - played with conviction.

Sure - why wouldn't he? An enemy is an enemy. I don't see why that should be worthy of making a big deal about.

Indeed. Also... if the girls are left to die on hillsides, how's the Hommik tribe supposed to continue? Even blimmin' rabbits are able to figure out that much ('Watership Down' reference)

Both B7 and Watership Down traumatised me when I was younger Grin

Both very traumatic. The BBC in its infinite wisdom broadcast 'Watership Down' on Easter Sunday - way to traumatise a whole new generation of kids expecting a happy tale of Easter Bunnies.

Really? did BBC broadcast "Watership Down" as a family program?

Surely any parents would know about Watership Down. If they let their kids watch it, then they can't complain!

He's testing Pella. Avon isn't a bigot. But she is. Nobody ever refers to Dayna by colour until Pella. There's a reason for that.

Not necessarily - only if they had read/seen it themselves. I read the book before the movie came out, and was very impressed with the adaptation.

Love Vila's line 'a second chance?'
And Tarrant add to his 'swaggering down steps' catalogue.

Vila has some great lines in this ep - and Michael is fab.

I just noticed one of the Hommiks is Pat Gorman, an extra in many Blake's 7 and Doctor who episodes.

Was Pella's comment why the DVD was released with a 12 certificate? I seem to remember it mentioned a 'racist' line in the description or something like that?

Although redundant (there's no white woman waiting to have a go, not while Soolin's in the shower anyway) - I didn't perceive it as a racist comment - 'a statement of fact cannot be insolent'. It's said as a description, not as an insult or disparaging.

Gosh. Seriously? For referring to Dayna as 'a black woman'?

'Black' is not racist - not even in our modern-day ultra-PC times.

BUT it's very noticeable simply because no-one else ever refers Dayna by colour. It simply doesn't happen by the third century of the second calendar. So it seems a clever way of helping to expose Pella's prejudices.
