Doctor Who Season 36

Not sure what to make of that one. Maybe time will tell as the story plays out. But a big come down after the excellent stories of the last two weeks.

I want to wait for the remaining two stories to see the result but I thought it was great.

I'll have to check it out. I'm a bit behind on the new Dr Who adventures. At the moment I've been too busy listening to the terrific new 4th Dr Adventures with the great Tom Baker himself. Those are absolutely fantastic.

With the new Dr's, I've felt that none of them have been as good as Christopher Ecelston so I'm hoping there will shortly be audio stories featuring my 3rd favorite Dr of all time. ( 1. Tom Baker, 2. Pat Troughton, 3. Christopher Ecelston).

Empress of Mars was great. My favourite Doctor and my favourite race in one episode. Nothing wrong with this episode for me Smile

favourite race too, excellent story, tho I always imagined the Martian mothers as massive static queen ant type things, really enjoyed it

I'm just all fangirl-happy about that last cameo. Mark Gatiss is such a Pertwee era geek. Wink (Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor too.)

Enjoyed it.

Good fun episode! Nice to have the original voice of AC!

A silly concept at the end (building message of huge rocks, lifted in a way from Verne's First Men in the Moon) but nevertheless a good solid episode that works well. Just park your brain for the penultimate scene Pfft

Loved it, Gatiss does Victorian stories so well, and it looked lovely.

I guess that episode was supposed to be a "fan pleaser", but it did very little for me. I wonder what on earth the general viewing public made of it as well. Would they have a clue who Alpha Centauri is?

I prefer original to derivative.

Hopefully Rona Munro will come up with something a bit better next week.

I think the public wonīt care. They saw a weird alien and said "OK". I honestly had no idea until I did some digging and I DID watch the classic.

I enjoyed it as a stand-alone, classic DW story. Also, Ice Warriors are my favourite race on DW (so I may be biased)I loved how Gatiss released his inner geek through Bill Grin

I think Joe Public will take it at face value of Mars joining the 'Galactic UN' but of course us fans get the bonus credit Grin

Oh my. That was simply brilliant. I did guess one of the twists - who was in disguise. But still loved it. Poor Bill.

I hope next week pays it off.

An okay episode the 'twist' pretty obvious in my view.

Nice to see the old style Mondasian Cybermen again..
Not sure the time dilation thing quite works in the context seen, but whatever, it passed the time well enough.

BBC America was showing 'upcoming scenes' going into commercial breaks that contained huge spoilers. Their FB page is going nuts.

Also, on BBC America, there are lots of complaints that the background music is often so loud that you cannot hear dialog. Paula and I were both having trouble. Do you have that issue in Britain?

This has been an issue of recent times.
It's just not the music, but the fact that the actors seem to be mumbling their lines.
I have just watched the first episode of the last series of Ripper Street....and I cannot make out half the dialogue. We've turned the volume up to over 30 and still can't hear what's being said.
It's no good experts saying that its the new TVs....I've played B7 DVds and The Persuaders through the TV and I can hear every word.
So methinks its something to do with the sound engineer...or something!!!
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

It's a general problem these days, but I've less of a problem since we changed to a difficult TV in the living room!

I'm loving this series. Alpha Centauri, Venusian Akido, and the Master coming back and actually having a passing resemblance to the man we knew in the classic series. (Yes, I am not a Missy fan.) I loved the Mondas Cybermen and of course could see as the program went on that Bill would end up being a Cyberman... er, woman. So that makes Danny Pink, The Brig and now Bill having been 'converted' to Cybermen. Hmmm... but can't wait for the finish of the series and to see how they wrap it all up. Going to miss Capaldi, but oh well, onwards and upwards with a new incarnation of the Doctor. Also- someone needs to tell the show-runners that the music is too loud to hear the dialogue at times. Very frustrating.
Zil: Oneness must resist the Host.
