Cygnus Alpha 4.0 28th-30th September 2018

Hello! First post from a newbie, albeit someone who was just old enough to watch series 4 when it was first broadcast.

I'm going to Cygnus Alpha - my first ever convention. I'm London-based, but as this is out near Kew, it's probably going to be a 'send the sprog to the grandparents for the weekend, book into the Holiday Inn and have a great time' weekend. Wink

To Brad, Paula and Zenrac: Years ago I spent the summer working at a US summer camp in Massachusetts, then bought an Amtrak pass and spent a few weeks going up and down the East coast from Milwaukee to Florida, and most places inbetween. I had a great time in Chicago!

Glad to hear that. Chicago is a great city. Will be looking forward to meeting you in person at CA4.
Zil: Oneness must resist the Host.

Thank you everyone for the welcome. I look forward to contributing to this lovely site over the next few months and also meeting some of you next year.

Joe Dredd: The Elf and her Friends was my favourite childhood book - about a horse, the Elf, and her farmyard companions. Not very scifi I'm afraid!

The Amtrak double-deckers are great. You can grab a cabin if you are travelling overnight, then head up to the bubble car and sit up there and watch some fantastic scenery roll on by.

My sprogs are 19 next March so no grandparents required, but a weekend away having a great time sounds like a plan. I haven't been to a convention since the late 90's so this will be a modern first for me. They have probably changed in dynamic, but we shall see. The only way to find out is to go.

Easy to get to from here on the coast, too. Local station here direct to Clapham Junction then change for a short hop to the venue. Marvellous.
