Blast from the past
Bugger, I thought it would come out clearer. It's just an article (click on it and it expands slightly) that says how the first VHS releases sold 40,000 in just six weeks. Remember the omnibus editions?

Oh yes the old 'Blake's 7 movies'

When I noticed them in a shop I was staggered at their price, 70 or so... How times have changed. Smile

I couldn't afford them. I eventually got them off my brother's mate for a fiver each.

"The Way Back" is interesting - it's only 15 minutes long Grin
I've got them. I have transfered one to DVD. Now to get my video connected again and maybe do the others.
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

Yup it was tough being a student... With a car to maintain too even a fiver was a stretch Smile
I can still remember my excitement when the postman delivered these to my door back in the late 1980s in a brown cardboard parcel. It was the first time i'd ever seen TWB, Space Fall, Cygnus Alpha and Time Squad and I was immediately captivated .
Brad laid out a fair bit of money for the VHS tapes. We still have them. I on the other hand, copied them off television and I still have those tapes- can't seem to throw them away. I'm surprised they even held up the the constant replaying!
Yes, IIRC it was $500.00 total in 1994 for all 26 tapes. That was a hell of an investment when I was making $14,000 per year.
Halfway the eighties, a student brought a few Series C tapes from Belgium and I happened to watch series C for the first time and we all thought that Blake's 7 ended with Terminal.
Before that I was convinced that the series ended with Star One!
So a lot of joy to see the series had continued.
The tapes circulated amongst the students until they got lost which caused a lot of sadness.
Lara&Sue's Blake's 7 stories
*No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*
They were reissued in 1990 at a more reasonable price of 9.99. My uncle bought me Orac as a X-mas present(his apology to my mum for loosing his rag with me during an episode of 15-1, lol).
40,000 copies. Hmm since there were 4 tapes released in January 1991 that must be 10,000 copies per tape sold in 6 weeks. Not bad. Current DVD manufacturers can only dream of such sales figures these days.

I remember the Omnibus editions. Confused the hell out of my as a kid when all the others were helpfully numbered.
