i thought Daughter no 1 was already resentful of Sue's adulation of Mr Darrow
I have concluded that Jenna is Blake-aware, Blake is Avon-aware, Avon is self-aware and Gan is rarely aware. Vila is merely wary. Cally is frequently more away than aware.

Apropos of Cally " pushing Avon away". I'd have loved to see his reaction if she flung herself into his arms sobbing, " thank you, Avon for coming to support me, I feel much better for a cry in your arms." He has enough problems processing Max's HANDSHAKE of gratitude in Deathwatch.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

Avon really doesn't do the touchy-feely stuff, does he? Grin

Even the flashback scenes in "Rumours Of Death" with Anna involve no contact!!

Strangely enough, he does grab Blake quite a lot. But that's very much a powerplay going on between the two.

Back to the Time Line ....
Some of this is conjecture some my own ideas :

Assume that Avon was a criminal and had completed some
moderately successful frauds he is noticed by the resistance.
they can see he is not political nor trusting.
Perhaps wishing to use him to damage the Federation they
his ego and have a colleague joke that whoever designed
the security on the banking systems the best if the galaxy.
Perhaps just as a mental exercise he looks for any floors, he
eventually finds one.
To overcome the system he needs to up-lode to two separate
computers that are isolated from the rest of the network, hence he
needs to recruit a couple people to help do this.
This could be what alerts the Federation to him however as he
is attempting to steal half a billion credits they think he is
political so they send in Anna, perhaps she does feel something for
him so tells them truthfully he isn't a Resister, they decide to arrest
the gang.
However Anna doesn't tell them Avon has left to buy some exit visas.
Here the seller tries to cheat him and attempts to kill him, Avon is wounded but kills the seller and takes the visas, he collapses but is taken in and helped perhaps by the resistance.
30 hours later he is told Anna was arrested and killed, he attempts to escape but the Federation found out about the Visas and is captured.
Though foiled the partial upload of his code when activated jammed the system, perhaps because he can unjam the system he accepts exil rather than the death sentance.

It works both ways though. They don't do personal space
I have concluded that Jenna is Blake-aware, Blake is Avon-aware, Avon is self-aware and Gan is rarely aware. Vila is merely wary. Cally is frequently more away than aware.

It could work but neither keiler nor tynus got caught

also we don't know that he was a criminal.

What? Trying to drive and listen to a certain rather nice computer expert? Now that really is asking for trouble. I wouldn't hear all those other drivers beeping their horns!! Grin

which is probably why he put his arm forward before she could get too close. Thinking in advance and all that

As I said before, we will have to agree to disagree about this whole scene.Your interpretation of it is at odds with some of us and that is fine.
I wonder if Mr Nation et al had any idea that their little programme, designed to fill the gap after Softly, Softly was taken off, would cause such debate?
I wonder what Uncle Vere would have made of it? He had enough trouble trying to understand why so many 'Boys and Girls' (as he called us back in 1981) were attending a Convention and how wide the age range was; from young children all the way up to senior citizens!

Grade Four Ignorant
I understood it as Avon worked on the fraud with Tynus and it was a combination of the authorities monitoring his activity via Anna and Tynus betraying him that led to his arrest.
