Fantastic news that Gareth Thomas will be starring in Cadfael - The Virgin in the Ice on stage from March! Enjoy the tv series with Sir Derek Jacobi and also enjoyed listening to one of the original novels on cd. Will try and see it during the opening week in Wolverhampton...

I remember Gareth saying that he thought Derick Jocoby was miscast because Cadfael should be Welsh. I would love to see this, I have read all the books several times over. It would be interesting how this would come over on the stage!!

I am so happy for Gareth. We were at a con in Chicago (about '95) and someone asked what he would like to do that he hadn't. He immediately said Cadfael.

Another member of the audience said, "They're doing it, with Derek Jacobi."

Gareth was clearly unhappy at the news. I am so glad he finally gets to play the role and desperately wish we could be there to see it. - Brad

Good news indeed...would dearly love to see this...

*edit* Checking the diary, I could certainly make the Saturday Matinee in Stevenage on 25th May...

The production company haven't finalised all the dates - there are still a couple of weeks to be filled so keep your fingers crossed, perhaps it will...

Hi Scorpiogirl - I suppose Darlington is too far away for you? I remember it as being a long way somewhere in the North! (But a lot of places are.)

This is wonderful news - one of the best christmas presents I could have asked for. I have no doubt that Gareth will be a wonderful Cadfael and can't wait to see it. Smile

I've just noticed that the Middle Ground Theatre Company page refers to a spring AND AUTUMN tour. Intriguing!

personally, i would travel to the ends of the earth and beyond to see blake dressed as a monk -the problems arise when you enter the realms of overnight stays and time off work to acommodate them......but, i will keep my eyes on the schedule and think positive thoughts -who knows...i might be able to sort something out...here's hoping...

Ooh - what are you studying in Clangerland?

Just in case anyone is doing a double-take; the news item has now been updated to include the Windsor details.

If it happens to be playing with Gareth anywhere in Britain when we're over this fall, we are SO there. - B

oops, sorry Saba, my studying days are behind me for now. Smile

What a difference an 'a' can make to a sentence, it should have read; 'studies a rapidly filling diary for 2013'.

I'm coming to the conclusion that 52 weekends in a year are simply not enough! Shock

Looks like depending on how the Autumn schedule plays out, we can start to plan for our next trip over the pond and possibly include a theatre visit to see dear Gareth. Fingers crossed. -Paula

Gareth did say the autumn wasn't definite, and certainly no dates had been booked, so possibly they are waiting to see how spring goes before making any definite plans.
