Rewatch - Australia - Cygnus Alpha - 15th October

A fit of giggles at the teleport landing effect of the outline then arrival

"Why don't they use the same effect as the leaving one?"

In the meantime I along with my Lovely Lady Charity, will be watching Cygnus Alpha. I shall report her thoughts as I also comment

I'll be interested to read them. I know that you & your sister weren't keen on this ep because of its 'religious' theme, but it's essential viewing as part three of the opening trilogy of eps.

There is a lot to like in this one, but yeah me an religion don't mix. Especially when I'm watching futuristic science fiction. I can and do watch and enjoy things like Supernatural. What can I say, I'm complex Oops

Too hard to get it word for word, but the Lovely Lady does like that the "heroes" don't seem to get along. Avon being contrary to Blake and causing friction.

She did say though "Does he (Blake) know how to use that gun?" They didn't test the firearms. Me thinks an American show would have had a gun testing scene.

It's also interesting that they immediately assume that they're guns. Maybe they *are* toothpicks, for elaborate alien teeth?

Amazing how a bunch of criminals worked together to make this community. In the bleak and cynical B7 universe, that is kinda amazing and almost inspirational. Seriously.

How do you feel about it being a kind of metaphor for Australia? Seriously.

On the bridge of a ship doubtful, but yeah it is an alien ship after all. According to Rimmer, aliens do do alien things Oops

I love this early Gan, the mix of this guy and the "He killed my woman" guy and without the crippling limiter (let him punch but not kill at least) and he'd have been more compelling.

I posted earlier that it's cool how he's very much the central figure in the planetside part of this ep - more so than Vila, and with equal air time to Jenna & Avon on the ship. Gan becomes the prisoners' leader, is chosen by Kara - how else might things have played out if he hadn't been 'rescued' by Blake?

A gasp of "No!" when Gan looked to be sacrificed!

"He's my second favourite!"

Me "whose first?"

"The other 3. That other guys whose always around is snivelling"

The Limiter limits the character. Breakdown should have gotten rid of it rather than just fixed it. I'm just struck by how great he is in this trilogy!
