Blake Event - 11 June 2017

I'm afraid I've got something else planned for the Saturday so I won't be able to come on the location visit. I shall see you all on the Sunday though.

Who's up for a visit to the Pressure Point location (Blake & Gan in the ruins of the church) on the Saturday afternoon?

I would be; I'll be in Steventon on Saturday (staying at the Cherry Tree), but I would need to catch a ride with someone for the location visit.

Likewise...alas having no job after Friday I need to ration my expenditures...

Oh Clare! NO. I am wishing you the best! Good luck. xx

Ellen, you will excuse us I hope. We were just putting out feelers. Lorna is driving but we have 4 in the car already. Rob will driving down, so he has room for 3 more- so we have you covered. Anyone else? And people driving down and wanting to join us, we'd love more cars to do a location visit. As it gets closer to the day, I'm sure we'll figure it out. But glad to hear people are wanting to hang out. It's going to be a great weekend. The Cherry Tree would be first choice for lunch and dinner!

I trust that each car has a designated driver! It sounds as though this could be one very boozy weekend if you start in the Cherry Tree and end in the Cherry Tree!!!Grin
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

I will drive, if drunk enough, I will accidentally drive on the correct (in Britain) side of the road.

I will be travellng down to Steventon from north west and not sure of journey time yet. I hope to be in Steventon early enough to join you for lunch at Cherry Tree (is it in Steventon?). Coming by train so would be grateful if there is room in a car to see the ruins.

Ok, fine. I have a list for lunch. That means there is one place left in TT's car for another member, barring us getting someone with another car.

Let me get back to everyone as to when we will do lunch at the Cherry Tree. Thank you.

Unfortunately can't join you all at Abingdon, but can highly recommend a visit, apart from the Blake's 7 locations Abingdon Museum is worth a look and it is a very interesting town, the architecture is very camera worthy.

Paula I will drop you a quick PM.

*Message from the BLAKE event*

Due to circumstances beyond our control we regret to announce that Jacqueline Pearce is unable to attend BLAKE in June.

We know this news will be disappointing but here at Team Blake we are still working hard to bring you a fantastic event to celebrate Gareth Thomas and raise funds for a most worthwhile charity. We look forward to seeing you all.

sweevo wrote:For accommodation, try the Cherry Tree Inn. For transportation, try taking a train from Bristol Temple Meads to Didcot Parkway (approximately an hour). From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Parkway Station, where you can take the X2 bus, which goes through Oxford City Centre and the outskirts, arriving at The Green in Steventon after about 10-15 minutes.
So it turns out there are NO TRAINS from Bristol on 10 June due to Engineering works... replacement bus service instead. It could be trains to Didcot Parkway from elsewhere may be fine.....

THANK you very much indeed for info about the X2 bus, but I'll be staying at the Premier Inn (about 1hr's walk away from Didcot Parkway, still wondering if that's too far to walk...)
Do you know if the X2 also runs on the Sunday from Steventon back to Didcot Parkway? I think Sunday bus times can be... sometimes very sparse....

RichardMk2
Winnie - there ARE trains from Bristol but they're going a different route. What you'd have to do if you didn't want to use the rail replacement buses between Chippenham and Didcot would be be to get a train from Bristol Temple Meads to Reading, then another train from Reading to Didcot

We'll miss Jacqueline Pearce, but still looking forward to the day and what it has to offer. Thanks for the update, Clanger.

Really looking forward to the Blake event, seeing guests and fans alike.
I am a little concerned about Jacqueline as this is the second event she has cancelled recently. Hopefully there is a simple reason but even so I am sending best wishes her way.
