Kew Gardens
clareblues1
Had a great visit to this classic location of the horticultural world today. I visited with my gardening club and must've walked my feet off!

I have some photos on my phone and will fathom how to get them off at some point. Highlights were the Rhododendrons, Azaleas and the Japanese garden. Also spectacular was the giant water lily in one of the glasshouses, though my glasses misted over within seconds of my entering! Thankfully they cleared so I could see properly.

We were there in April with Lorna and Lurena and SD, absolutely lovely.

My favorites were the giant lily pads and the very humid and hot tropical gardens. Amazing!

Love Kew Gardens! Need to revisit soon as there's still loads that I missed in my last two trips.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Here's a couple of the 'crew' at Kew.

Sounds lovely Clare (and everyone else)! It's a long time since I went, and that was in the winter. I imagine the flowers are beautiful.

I love Kew - haven't been there for years. I know it's not a B7 location, but would anyone like to do a group outing there, just for a nice day out?

My Mum always quotes this poem by Alfred Noyes any time someone mentions Kew Gardens:

Go down to Kew in lilac-time, in lilac-time, in lilac-time;
Go down to Kew in lilac-time (it isn't far from London!)
And you shall wander hand in hand with love in summer's wonderland;
Go down to Kew in lilac-time (it isn't far from London!)

The cherry-trees are seas of bloom and soft perfume and sweet perfume,
The cherry-trees are seas of bloom (and oh, so near to London!)
And there they say, when dawn is high and all the world's a blaze of sky
The cuckoo, though he's very shy, will sing a song for London.

The nightingale is rather rare and yet they say you'll hear him there
At Kew, at Kew in lilac-time (and oh, so near to London!)
The linnet and the throstle, too, and after dark the long halloo
And golden-eyed tu-whit, tu-whoo of owls that ogle London.

Come down to Kew in lilac-time, in lilac-time, in lilac-time;
Come down to Kew in lilac-time (it isn't far from London!)
And you shall wander hand in hand with love in summer's wonderland;
Come down to Kew in lilac-time (is isn't far from London!)

That's a lovely idea, nice poem too.

I'd be up for a trip to Kew!
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

I'm interested in a Horizon Kew outing, definitely!

Yay, we've got a group forming for this outing! Who would like to suggest some dates - preferably a Saturday?

I think that sounds like a marvellous idea Travisina! A Saturday would suit me better too. The herbaceous borders weren't fully out yet so it would be nice to see those.

Okay, we've pinned down a day of the week. What month would best suit people - June, July, August? I'm aware that we're soon getting into holiday season when people might be going away.

Kew Gardens group outing, what a great idea!
It must be a treat to see those borders and other plants abloom.
Pity I can't join you; I would love to see it again.
I really enjoyed my visit in April, together with Spaceship Dispatcher, Brad and Paula!
Spaceship Dispatcher guided us to the interesting places for the month April, even took me back to the tropics. Sweet memories!

Me too. How's August for everybody else? Choice of Saturdays - 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th (nb 27th is Bank Holiday weekend, which might affect travel). I can do any of those dates, but would prefer to avoid the Bank Hol.

I'm working on all Saturdays in August, so I'm out of this. Sorry.
