The next story, a sort of continuation of "The Lost Temple and Other Stories", is "Midnight Rendezvous and Other Stories". Just having completed reading it, I was thrilled at the continuation of the Amelia Williams story and loved every bit of it. I could not stop reading until I was finished! As always, the story is well thought out, well written and full of adventure with the wise-cracking and liberated Amy Pond. What I like the most about Spaceship Dispatcher's stories, is how well written they always are. The descriptions always give me a solid idea of what the location looks like and there are always many little detailed insights to enjoy like the workings of a steam train, or a DC-3 aircraft or even a car or bus. The deliberate details of such things adds to the feel of the story being set in the early 1950'a. Having a modern gal like Amy set in that era makes it all the more fun. She's a real spit-fire, that girl is.

I suppose I should not mention this but I will. I was surprised and quite amused to find myself mentioned as one of Amelia's American friends in this story. Spaceship Dispatcher often uses his friends to populate his stories, often with just a reference, but it's always fun to find reference to one's self or another mutual friend described in his stories. So not only did I love the story, but I was highly amused and laughed out loud at me popping up in the story! Thanks, SD. I'm famous, now!

To sum up, an excellent story and I sincerely hope you do more of the Amelia Williams stories in future.

Just to let you know that the follow up to our August Prompt is up on a very hastily constructed website.
Lurena has been off line and I don't how to access her website that she created for all our collaborations...so I've just created a temporary one.
Anyway...our August short story, 'A Ticket to Ride', involved our heroes finding an old Dodgems Ride...well, it didn't end there!
Oh no....their problems grow in the follow up story, 'All The Fun of the Fair'.
Just click on the link below and then go to Our Stories, click on All the Fun of the Fair and there you will find out what happened when the Liberator crew explored just a little further....
You will also find Doppelganger...which follows on from Encounter.
As Lurena is out of contact there aren't any of her lovely drawings, but I know that she was working on a few.

Many thanks for your kind review! I'm glad you enjoyed reading it so much, and that you also enjoy being made a part of the Doctor Who and Avengers universes. So happy it turned out to be a page turner!

Just read All the Fun of the Fair on Lara and Sue's story pages and really enjoyed it. In fact Sue, this was my favourite of your Blake's 7 fanfics so far! The setting was great, and developed properly into somewhere fascinating and dangerous rather than merely a lead-in to something else, and all the characters felt right. Vila is difficult to get right in terms of motivation and the underlying feeling beneath the persona he presents, and I thought you wrote him in a complex way that did not say "Vila thought this because..." but left some room for the readers' interpretation. Avon was right too, but then that's a minimum expectation when I open one of your stories!

Thank you SD.
All the Fun just seemed to write itself. Lurena wondered about the other rides and I got to thinking.
The Ghost Train ride has always seemed a dark entity amongst the bright lights and screeching music. I can remember my sister screaming as something dragged across her face. Me? I had my eyes shut, just like Vila...
The last scene, with the Laughing Clown. Those machines have always seemed creepy to me as well. The Policeman is okay, but a clown?
So I'm glad that you enjoyed it...just don't have nightmares..............................

Thank you for the post Peladon. I enjoyed your story very much. Have written on a similar theme ( very differently delivered) inspired by Atomicmayo's art work which I'll post for the Valentine challenge.

Glad you enjoyed it. Dont seem to have much time to write at the moment and so everything has to be short.

That's a shame Peladon. I keep hoping you'll add to your Illusions and Realities series. I enjoy it very much.

My new Doctor Who fanfic is now online...

Doctor Who: The Space Mine
The Doctor and Clara land in a mining colony on an alien world. It has been beset by a mysterious sickness and when the Doctor arrives he is mistaken for the medical help due from the Home-world. Before long the Doctor finds his own interests inextricably linked to those of the colonists as Clara too falls victim to the illness...
Characters: The Doctor and Clara - rating: General - word count: 8000

This was an interesting exercise to write! Despite being set in the most recent series, the setting was very much based on the 1960s era...

Just read Spaceship Dispatcher's new 12th Doctor and Clara story called. 'The Space Mine'. It's always fun to read a new story from SD and especially the 12th Doctor ones as he gets Clara exactly 'right'. That does not mean he does not get the Doctor correct, as he does, but I can actually hear Clara speaking the lines I am reading, and that for me is down to the writer knowing his subject and enjoying it as much as we do reading them. What else can I say? SD's descriptive writing technique is always superb and it can be likened to listening to a Big Finish audio and getting a mental picture of the room or desert, mysterious planet, or whatever. So reading, you certainly get a definite picture of the surroundings and that always helps. The story itself is typical of Doctor Who: the Doctor lands on some planet and immediately is in the thick of things. The companion wanders off only to eventually need the Doctor to help her. This is not meant as a criticism, as it's what we all expect and it is a homage to the tv series. I liked the story, as I always do with SD's writing, and I heartily recommend checking out his web site and reading his many and varied stories. Looking forward to reading more of the 12th Doctor and Clara, and any other incarnation of the Doctor SD feels like writing next. If you have a bit of time on your hands, do yourself a favor and read some of SD's stories. They're very good!

Thank you so much for your kind review of The Space Mine, and for recommending my 'many and varied' efforts! I'm happy that you feel the characters come off the page and that you enjoyed it so much. There's nothing specific in the pipeline at the moment for the next story but I'm considering revisiting the Second Doctor era soon, readers' kind comments regarding Distress Calls and The Space Mine have encouraged me to think about doing some more Capaldi and Clara, meanwhile Amelia Williams is back home where I'm sure some perils must be waiting around the corner, and I'm leaning towards a new spin-off fanfic series following the travels and adventures of Clara and Ashildr in the flying tea shop (sorry, that's Diner in American)...

Here's a very interesting podcast on the nature of fandom and the writing of fan fic (mostly Star Wars, but can be applied to all fandoms) -

http://www.bbc.co...s/b06z5jmt

The only thing I would take issue with is her thinking that fan fic is a recent phenomenon, due to the internet! Bless...

I reposting an old fanfic on 'fan-fic net', it's not as good as many I have read, but I thought I'd repost it anyway. Smile. My author name is markab (obviously) and it's called Blake after seven (an original title I know).

Anniew
Coukd you include a link to your piece Markab. I had a look on line but it was very complicated.

I spent a happy hour yesterday morning reading Doppelganger. Well, what can I say? I was blown away by the ideas in the story and the quality of the writing. Lurena's excellent illustrations were the icing on the cake. I really think they should commission you two for Blake's 7 novels, they would be so much better! Highly recommended...
