RIP Sylvia Anderson 1927 - 2016
Travisina
Sylvia Anderson, producer and co-creator of classic Supermarionation series, has passed away after a short illness.
She was best known for being the model for, and the voice of, the wonderful Lady Penelope in Thunderbirds.

Another icon from my childhood gone.

RIP, M'Lady.

Very sad news indeed. She was a good friend to Anderson fandom.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Too many childhood and teenage heroes passing this year- whoever that infernal intern is up there deciding who goes, needs to be stopped. I absolutely loved all of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's work as a nipper, and UFO set me up for a more fatalistic and realistic viewpoint of sci-fi, which is why I loved B7 when it first appeared. UFO was a milestone in TV sci-fi, because the whole undercurrent of the series was that we were fighting a slowly losing battle against the aliens. You couldn't get away with anything like that nowadays. Farewell, m'lady. I trust the hearse will be a pink Rolls Royce?

Sad news RIP. My favourites were Captain Scarlett, UFO and the first season of Space 1999.

How sad. Just a few weeks ago I saw her being interviewed in an interesting documentary!

Wonderful woman, always classy yet down to earth. It was an honour to be her 'bodyguard' at that event for a while. And as they say, 'Gone, but not forgotten' as she will be remembered long after I am gone.

G'night, M'lady.
"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars."
