Dutch release DVDs
stoke_rob
I have posted this on the Blake's 7 Fans Facebook page but thought it might be of interest on here. I finally purchased the Dutch boxed set of B7 and did a picture comparison with the Fabulous Films releases in the UK. I detected quite an improvement on picture quality of the Dutch DVDs, particularly the vibrancy of the colours. Here is a screen grab comparison:

Well, that's interesting! We have the British version of the series but I've been told by friends to check the Dutch dvd's as they're usually cheaper. And they are. But color? Yes, it does seem brighter. Thanks for the input.

As quite a lot of time has passed between the original UK releases and these Dutch releases, technology has improved and I assume the transfers to dvd have benefitted from the improved technology. I got my Dutch DVD set for 17 (thats $25 US) so a real bargain for 52 episodes plus bonus extras disc. I would recommend them.

Yup, Dutch DVDs are the way to go to collect your Avengers collection. It's much, much cheaper. All you have to do is turn off the subtitles.

it's really nice as well having all the series in one big chunky box Smile

I am tempted by other series' too. Is the Avengers box set the one called 'The Wreckers' in the Dutch language?

That's the one - 'De Wrekers'.

Wow - that is a big difference... if I ever get the ability to play multi-region dvds I might buy them.

That's right.
But don't try to learn Dutch from them; the translations are rubbish...AngryWink

We bought a multi-region dvd player years ago so we could get discs which are not available in the USA. They're not too expensive and has been a big help to us.
