It is a rare thing to see Avon, speechless.

TT wants you to pick next week's episode...

Brad, anything from Derek, apart from Rescue and Blake.

KLEGG Very neat. I don't think I'd like you as a friend, Avon.

Excellent episode.

While I note how quickly Avon decides to bring on board two new people, so that he can ditch Blake and Jenna Wink

Here's the only weird thing in this episode:
Avon accepting, no even asking Tarrant and Dayna to register their voice patterns to Zen...
I have difficulty with that.

I have difficulty with that.

I've read that Paul Dartow felt the same. When he queried it, pointing out that Avon would never do that he was told that if Avon didn't they wouldn't have a series!

I guess you could justify it on the basis that without a modicum of trust, life on the Liberator would be intolerable. Or maybe Cally told him to do it! Though Avon is quite responsible still at this point of the series ( not caring but he does have a code and has taken some responsibility for Dayna) and must know that if was killed on a mission, Dayna and Tarrant would need access to Zen - and if he's the one who makes that decision then they'd be up a gum tree without a paddle if he hadn't added them.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

It makes sense for a weekly running TV series, but I would love to have seen control turned over to the new characters maybe one or two episodes down the line. Ideally by necessity, rest of the crew incapacitated, Avon has no choice but to imprint Tarrant and Dayna on Zen to save them all, they prove their worth and everyone carries on.

Showing an uncharacteristic amount of trust.

This is MY ship.... but now either of these two strangers can steal it the next time I'm planet side.
