Random Rewatch - A1 The Way Back
trevor travis
The episode: Albert One - The Way Back
The date: Tuesday, January 26th, 2016
The time: 7.45pm UK time

Random Rewatch - No 4

Selected by Trevor Travis

In which Blake must recruit six other people... Bran Foster... no he's dead... Richie & Ravella... no they're dead... Tel & Maja Varon... no they're dead... oh, I give up. Yup, the first episode of B7 ends up with the bad guys winning. Talking of bad guys, how evil is Morag? Booooo.

And that nice computer expert does absolutely nothing, because he's not in this episode. Apologies to the Avon ladies for picking the one episode without him in it. Wink

It's one of my favourites of the entire run.

And without it, we'd all think Blake was a complete smee-heeeeeee.

And yes Vila is great in it. It's wonderfully bleak, but a tiny bit of comic relief is welcome.

We can imagine the parts of the episode that involve that rather nice computer expert, so don't worry.Grin
I wonder if there is an Easter Egg on the DVD that actually contains the unbroadcast sections...or has that been eaten as well?
Rather like the bathing scene in Rescue..................................

Roj Blake was a would-be reformer.
Framed for a crime that’s a corker.
Jenna and Vila join his band of guerrillas,
But who is that bloke in the corner?

And for all those who were not around in 1977/78 or were too young to actually remember it, here is the double spread from the Xmas 1977 edtion of the Radio Times.
My friend Julie came round about a week before Xmas and said, "Hey, you may be interested in this. It's a new Sci fi show".
She had the Radio Times in her hot little hands and I was awestruck, "Okay, I'll give it a go," said I.
Up until the dire Star Trek: The Motion PIcture, I had been an avid ST fan (since July 22nd 1969, at 5.15pm, Saturday).
And then TWB happened at 6.15, 2nd Jan 1978...
Let's see if we can spot these guys as the series unfolds...and who is that rather nice chap in the front behind the lady in red??

TT, we have had this discussion before. You know perfectly well who I mean. That rather nice chap is in the front row.
I'm not able to go to Cygnus Alpha....but Lurena is, and Anniew and several other Avon ladies.
So, beware of a Dutch street signGrin

Or indeed a Surrey sign! Just as deadly.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

None of these are as deadly as a Welsh street sign, which are twice as large, to incorporate two languages Wink

Welsh street signs are perfectly safe. I've walked by dozens without incident. Of course I don't tempt Karma by constantly disrespecting Del Grant.

Evening all, let's start at the very beginning...
Back after vegi haggis part 2.... as it was to big for one meal yesterday. so today it is with sweed and carrot mash with tatties....

I think this episode would have been better off as a flashback instead of a prologue (Spacefall and Cygnus Alpha fulfil that role rather nicely).

I'm just getting ready.
Even though a certain rather nice computer expert is nowhere to be seen...us Avon ladies can dream, can't we?

All cued up and ready to roll. It always surprises me how young all the actors look in TWB.

Around the corner on the west coast, they even have street signs with three languages (German, Danish and Frisian) ... and the names of the villages are very long (sometimes longer than the villages themselves ... like Strucklahnungshörn ... believe me, you don't want to arrive there with the last ferry in the middle of the night ... )
