RIP David Bowie
Absolutely gutted to learn that David Bowie has passed away. He was one of my all time favourite musicians / actors, his music was the soundtrack to my teens and twenties.

There's no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes
And I was just watching his performances at Live Aid and the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert earlier this week... oh, well, looks like I'll have to watch them again. RIP, David. You left an indelible mark on music and entertainment.

RIP David Bowie. I'll be finding out the CD of "Hunky Dory" later on - my favourite Bowie album.
Back in the day, it was a choice between Space Oddity and In The Year 2525 (by Zager and Evans). I went for the latter 45rpm (it was still 6 shillings and 3 pennies, I think), but Dearest went mad and he bought the LP!!! (Well he was out working by then...)
I still love Mr Bowie's song though. It still makes me shiver when listening to it...it could have so easily happened with those early forays out into space. And it almost did with Apollo 13.....
So RIP Mr Bowie...and thank you.
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

Ashamed to admit I didn't even realise he was seriously ill so this has come as something of a shock. RIP.

'Rebel Rebel' was my favourite song of his.

I'm on nights, so I was going to have a lie-in- all ideas of that went up the wall when Mrs SC came in to break the news before she left for work. I've been feeling 'unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed', as the great man would have put it, ever since. Tonight will be difficult. I haven't had the heart to put Blackstar on my iPod as yet, but I will be listening to all his other stuff on the way to work- and I'll probably stream Blackstar from my Amazon Prime during the night- if I can face it just yet. I live not far from Beckenham, where he once owned an art gallery, and Bromley Technical College, where he went with Peter Frampton, and from all accounts, both areas are getting floral tributes piling up.

What a godawful beginning to the year...
Vila: "I plan to live forever- or die trying..."
I heard and saw and read so many references to Major Tom in so many Brit shows and Brit movies and Brit books that I thought it must have been an urban myth....

I was surprised to find that it all stemmed from Space Oddity, and then I was surprised that I was surprised. I should have realized sooner that David Bowie was a true genius of the arts.
So sad to get this news. Such a genuine, nice man. And what a way to orchestrate your death! Learned from my brother in law that he took his name from the Bowie knife he had during his time in the Scouts. Did so much to change my generation's attitudes to difference. And his songs!
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.
RIP David Bowie

So saddened to hear this news! Not going to wallow in watching tributes, instead I'll remember him through his music and his individuality.
RIP, David. I love the Scary Monsters and Supercreeps album, Ashes to Ashes..
Absolute shocker hearing the news this morning. I'm not liking one bit many of my teen icons passing... guess that has to be expected with age... but still. RIP David Bowie.

Just popping up to say, RIP the first pop/rock star I was really a proper "fan" of. I'll always remember him fondly.
I don't get weepy often, but David Bowie. Such a fan. Going to go listen to music and cry in a corner.
Totally gutted myself, was crying last night when I found out. At first I thought it was a sick joke. He was a much loved rock star.
To think while he had cancer and was in pain, he still managed to put together the final album 'Blackstar'. A true artist till the end. He'll live on forever in our memories as we continue to play his great works forever. Still it was a total shock. Just like Rick Wright(of the band Pink Floyd) no one new, he kept it totally private. I always thought David Bowie would live longer than Lou Reed but it was not to be.

My favourite album is too hard to declare but I listen to 'Hunky Dory', 'Heathen', 'Outside' and 'Reality' an aweful lot. Today the radio station Triple M, played nothing but Bowie which was comforting to work to.

RIP David Bowie.

Lemmy died in December, just after Christmas.
With sadness and absolute fond memories...RIP David, thank you for sharing the results of your widespread talent.
