You are dead, Avon. But while you still draw breath, shoot the heck out of anything that moves!

It was Vila's 'death' that caused alot of anger...the parents who phone that BBC Night chappie up to complain gave him quite alot of abuse

I'd like to point out that Soolin just has a flesh wound.

Yeah, so I went to see Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet this summer, and jokingly said beforehand that it has a Blakes 7 ending.

And it did - in the final act of this production of Hamlet, they all died in slow motion! Wonder where they got that idea?

Well I didn't think I would need the tissues but I did. I have to say that Gareth Thomas's acting was flawless in this episode, so was Michael Keating's and Steven Pacey's. I found Soolin and Dayna's "deaths" a little unbelievable and I've never been entirely happy with Paul's performance in this last episode. However, I think his part was the harder one out of his and Gareth's.

I managed to get through Xmas 1981 after this, but without a video I had to wait until the Beeb showed it again and then I recorded it (on our new fangled machine with the remote control connect via a wire!)

Meanwhile, in January 1982 I set to with my PGP story. On an A4 pad and loads of biros!!!

At least they started it late, it didn't come crashing in immediately. And I think that's one of the things that made the last scene so effective - no music, just that klaxon and the sound fx.

If you are an avid Blackadder viewer, they all were saved by their cigarillo cases secreted about their persons!

Of course, Blake was saved by that economy sized ketchup bottle he had in his breast pocket...
