Horizon Advent Calendar Comments 2015
Spaceship Dispatcher
Lol TT Grin

And, of course, I loved the Feast of Steven reference Wink
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

RB: Loved the word puzzle. And TT: Wonderful story. Very heart-felt, funny and appropriate for the season! Thanks all!
Zil: Oneness must resist the Host.

28 - "Orac" backwards is "Caro" - a character from Attwood's "Afterlife". Man, we're caning this one!

Actually, I like how everyone is adopting Aussie time for posting their entries. I'm pretending it's for our benefit Tyce but I suspect it's either so they can get it out of the way before they go to bed or so they can have two Christmases!

Just spotted "Aaaaa". I'm sure there is a character in Star One called "Aaaaa". Travis calls out to them as he falls down the nuclear reactor.

I'm rubbish at the word search! Trevor I loved your story. But where was Og at Christmas? I hope his fur had grown back so he could come out of hiding.

Og is where he always is at Christmas - pulling Santa's sleigh Grin

@RB - A bit of sneaky collaboration means that I've now got the 21 names.
Plus some of the others - Jim, Alan, Val, Caro, the Andromedans and the person Travis was calling when he fell into the reactor.

@TT - what a great Orbit/Og story! I hope his fur grew back in time to pull Santa's sled; it can be chilly at the North Pole and in the Santasphere. Maybe Vila's Mounties let him borrow some of their red fur uniforms?

Hello, hello? Vila's glamorous attendants taking their uniforms off? Don't you normally leave TT and myself to come up with those suggestions, Travisina?! Wink

Travisina! Behave.

RB. - I don't remember the Liberator cat. ( perhaps Zen kept it in his cubby hole) But goodness knows why they let Avon name it! " It's called cat, stupid. What else would we call it?"

TT
Santa's dashing through the sky
On a one Og open sleigh.
Og ditches Dayna's pressie
In revenge for yesterday!

Now there's an idea for a future fan fic. Wink

I'm sure there's more mileage to take from this scene, which takes place on the shuttle earlier in Orbit:

VILA It certainly takes some getting used to.
AVON What does?
VILA Knowing we've finally cracked it. All I want now is to find a way of living forever.
AVON Hmmm.
VILA All we have to do is knock out a few planets for target practice, then name our own terms. We can have whatever we want! Think of it.
AVON Yes.
VILA I'll have an imperial palace with solid diamond floors, and a bodyguard of a thousand handpicked virgins in red fur uniforms. Vila's Royal Mounties.
AVON You're dreaming again.
VILA A man has a right to dream. Anyway, what's to stop us? I suppose it will get boring after the first fifty years, eh?

Ah yes. Grin It's also intended as something of a running joke, because it's similar to how I finished my alternative ending to "Blake" 12 months ago. Next year I'll pick the 14th and have "Warlord" ending in the same way. Grin

Just been catching up on the previous entries. As with last year, the advent calendar rocks. Love SD's story, and also all the pics and puzzles!!!

I’ve now found all 21 that RB intended to have in the Wordsearch, plus Nova and another little bonus…. a certain character with a very short name from “Horizon” Wink

PS Now also found everyone’s favourite philosophical flea Grin

TT....what a lovely heart warming story...may I even suggest HAIR Raising?
I wonder what sort of razor they would have found back then?
Did they have these rechargable ones? Or just the old fashioned Philishave.....which brings me to a very important question...just how will guys shave in the future??
PS
I hope Og's fur grows back in time as well for his stint pulling Santa's sleigh.
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

Well done RB, gotta love a word search. Smile

TT, yikes for OG, but being shaved beats being thrown out of an airlock, great story!

Tyce, looks like it's going to be fun. Smile

Well done all.

I loved the idea of 'space snow', but like Brad I didn't get the reference at first. This seems to be the one problem that DB does not have! (Instead, the heating in the trains always breaks down in winter ... as does the air conditioning in summer.)

BradPaula wrote:

What is it with you Brits and snow? You get half an inch and civilization grinds to a halt!

A few years ago, it actually did start to snow a little in winter. I was at work and my colleague had switched on the radio. A total git of a reporter asked people about their difficulties of getting to work. (Mind you, we are talking about max. 1/2" of snow!)
I said, 'I don't know what all the fuss is about. When I was young, snow was deemed a characteristic trait of winter.'
My colleague only laughed. She is from Siberia.

I thorougly enjoyed RB's word search for several days. I found 22, including Nova and Ro. Plus Jim, Rik (Mayall?), Zoe, SD and Travisna (one i missing). No Og, though. Does 'Vyla' count as a mispronounciation of Vila?

At last TT has treated us to his Og version of Orbit which he had aleady mentioned several times. Hilarious!

And now I have to have a go at the crossword puzzle ... although I fear I am too thick for this ...

Loving this Advent calendar!
