Amazon Prime have just uploaded the glorious, 1080p blu-ray quality complete run of The Professionals. Got to see our favourite acolyte of Cygnus, Pamela Salem, turn up in the episode Fall Girl as a prostitute who turns to Doyle for help when she uncovers a sinister plot involving her pimp and the KGB.

Sadly, she's dead within minutes. But her death - and Bodie and Doyle finding her naked corpse washed up on the banks of the Thames - spurs CI5's finest to investigate a plot to blackmail a politician into working for the Soviet Union.

The blu ray version of The Professionals is well worth watching. They have done a blinding job of cleaning it up. The versions currently on show on freeview are getting worse and worse in quality. Plus of course, there are several excellent episodes and many guest stars of past and future fame.

And what about Bodie? AngryGrin

prefer doyles character, bodies more of a cold killer, doyle has conscience, watch Discovered, my fave story, close quarters reveals exactly who bodie is!

They are 2 great episodes. And Bodie, to me, is a realist not merely an emotionless killer. The 2 of them together make for great television. Pity that Martin Shaw got a bit uptight towards the end and there were less episodes featuring the 2 of them together against ... evil? Their relationship made the show.

That was how I remembered the characters from the olden days. However, when I rewatched the series a few years ago, I suddenly realised that Doyle is too much of an idealist to really care (sounds familiar?) while Bodie is a big softie at heart. (And Close Quarters is one of the episodes that I'd rather forget ... why Cowley didn't fire Bodie after that crazy stunt is beyond me! But at least we can agree on Discovered in a Graveyards one of my top three eps together with Mickey Hamilton and Mixed Doubles).

I wish they'd used Lewis Collins as the head of CI5 in the "New Professionals" instead of Edward Woodward.

A free cruise on the Space Princess for anyone who can guess who these two Blake's 7 guest actors are, both playing police detectives in this 1973 show.

She is from Season 1, he is from Season 2.

She fares well in her Blake's 7 episode, alas he does not.

Gillian Bailey is picked up by the Onedin Line but all is not well.

I also like Blind Run. For Tommy, Tinkerbell and the sublime Kevork Malikyan as Mr X/Hanish. Co written by Brian Clemens. Funny, action filled and has that marvellous daftness that we so love in our 70s drama.

Stephen Greif recently turned up in a blink-and-you'll-miss-him role as a bearded, shouty judge in The Alienist: Angel of Darkness.

Still spotted him right away. Smile

My Daughter, who has never forgiven either Mr Nation or Mr Darrow, for taking my attention from her back in 1978 when she was but 11 months old, found this piccie on one of her old work colleague's Facebook page.
I'm not sure of the date, but the work colleague in question is standing on the right, wearing glasses.
