Very much enjoying the BBC's 1972 adaptation of Emma on dvd at the moment, and it features a leading role for Ania Marson (The Web) as Jane Fairfax; it also stars John Carson (dw: Snakedance) and Fiona Walker (dw: Keys of Marinus and Silver Nemesis) and I have also spotted an uncredited, non-speaking role for original Dalek operator John Scott Martin in the background of some shots as the doorman of the general store. Ania has a very beautiful appearance in this role and is one of the very best performers on set in many scenes, of great interest to see her in so much a longer role than she had as Geela and without the alien make-up on this occasion!
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

I found this old video on Youtube...

Not the kind of thing I'd think of Paul advertising, to be honest.

Still going through the Department S DVDS;
John Savident in 'The Double Death of Charlie Crippen',
Isla Blair in 'The Treasure of the Costa Del Sol', (being chatted up by Mr Wyngarde!), oh yes, and Dave Prowse...and he had a speaking part!!!
In the latter episode, there was some really strange music..a guitar being played and I recognised the music, but for the life of me I can't remember where. It sort of reminded me of the Gallery in Vision On or Take Hart.

The lovely Kate O'Mara turned up in the episode of Dept S entitled 'Who Plays the Dummy?'.
She was chatted up by suave Mr Wyngarde...and then proceeded to chat him up!!!
An awful lot of chatting up goes on in this series...and how many more times is Stewart Sullivan going to drink a Micky Finn???

This week: Steven Pacey as a car dealer in the 1993 Penelope Keith sitcom "Law & Disorder". A minor role at the end of episode six, "Safe as Houses", but with some good toothy smiles.

(Click on photo for a larger view.)

I've also recently seen Richard "Nebrox" Hurdnall as a vicar in an episode of "Public Eye", and as the victim in an episode of "Whodunnit", plus Harry "Jarriere" Jones in an episode of "Brush Strokes" (along with Karl "Bek" Howman, naturally) and Paul Darrow proposing to Janet Lees Price in an episode of "Within these Walls". More caps if I get the time!

What show are these pix from?

Paul Darrow proposing to Janet Lees Price in an episode of "Within these Walls".
Is that what the pix are from? If not, wouldn't mind some screencaps of that!

IIRC I posted this in the now-gone former-Horizon-forum, but they're still apt for "Spotted!"

Ok, this is tangential.... Just watched Red Dwarf Season 4 Episode 6 where Noel Coward is played by... Roger Blake !
Told you it was tangential.

And, in addition, the Specials for Red Dwarf Season 5 include a Liberator flying-in-space shot & a snippet of Avon from 13.Orac ("3 important BBC spacecraft") - Avon teleports 3 VHS Videos aboard showing B7, DrWho & RedDwarf covers. And the end music is end of B7-ep music!

I bought a 2nd hand DVD "Bulletproof Monk" (YES, it was pants**2 & went into the Charity Bag after viewing, but it was only 99p!) based on a graphic novel with artwork by Michael Avon Oeming (printed some places as "Deming").

I googled a couple of interviews with him to see if anyone asked him where he got his middle name from.... maybe Blake's 7? No one asked him that & he never volunteered the info. Interesting!

Bought "The Professionals" Vol2 (eps A.5,6,7,8) from a charity shop; watched A.6 first as it was (according to the DVD notes) the 1st ep broadcast, 30 Dec 1977. In it is a nasty piece of work, a heartless murdering heroin dealer, Sutton, played by Blake's 7's Major Grenlee (from 34.RumoursOfDeath), Donald Douglas (Canadian). It's quite grim actually - turns out he himself has been tortured by other hard-drug dealers...

seis.bris.ac.uk/~phpwl/prof.vol2.a6.grenlee2.jpg

This "The Professionals" episode was directed by Douglas Camfield who also directed Blake's 7 episode 08.Duel. Haven't watched rest of DVD yet, but liked this 1st ep enough (it certainly is dark/grim & action-packed!) to watch the rest & see if any other B7 actors in them... but not enough to pay 50 for entire TheProfessionals DVD box set! as seen in local DVD shop

I bought the DVD because of a B7 crossover fic in Southern Seven 9, "In Transit" by Colette Bolech & Kathy Martin. The Hermit info about this zine says it's an "AU Pros crossover?" & the writing & intriguing characters were good enough to go to the trouble of scanning & OCR'ing it to keep an electronic copy. But the characters in that story are called Brandt & Duncan, not Bodie & Doyle; it's very action-packed, exciting & pretty well written.
(If anyone wants to read it, let me know)

I stumbled across an interview with Mr.Darrow the other day from an episode of Ask Aspel originally broadcast in 1979. It's available on YouTube for anyone who's interested.

Joe Dredd
Funnily enough I spotted that last night; the one with the time codes on. Horizon used to sell a copy of it (along with other excerpts) on a VHS tape!

The screencaps are from series 2 of an old sitcom called "Yes Honestly" (which in turn followed on from another sitcom called "No Honestly" with John Alderton & Pauline Collins). Paul turns up in episode three, "The Man who Shot Bernard Vallance" as said Bernard Vallance.

I was being deliberately mysterious leaving the details out. I thought the faces PD was pulling might generate some speculation! The first one looks like he's detected the giant smelly butterfly under his chin. The third reminds me of Kryten from Red Dwarf, or Sam the American Eagle.

I will at some time, though Paul proposes over the phone so he and Janet are not in the same shots at that point in the episode.

Now I'm watching "Parkin's Patch", a series about a policeman in rural 60s Yorkshire. Gareth Thomas plays one of the other main characters, Ron Radley, complete with Yorkshire accent!

An observant member of another forum kindly pointed out to me that Jennifer Twigge (Lurena from Star One) appears in half a dozen episodes of Hadleigh as his god daughter, Joanna. What a blind beetle I am as I watched this series just last year and didn't, er, twig.

Hi - glad to be on board.

Apologies if this show has been featured, but...Wanna scare the kids (and the adults)? Show them this classic series from '76, Children of the Stones:
http://youtu.be/b...

Featuring one G.Thomas as the main protagonist, rebelling (hmm..) against Iain Cuthbertson the town squire. Was creeped out then, got the DVD now and am still creeped out

Good call, benji2, and welcome aboard!

Also saw the Callan DVDs recently, and in Series 4 Ep 11 (Call Me Enemy), Brian Croucher (with a very 1972 hairstyle and fashion) plays a young boffin helping the shady govt department plant surveillance gear to keep an eye on our hero. Guess ya gotta start somewhere Wink

Unfortunately I can't find any footage online but will keep an eye out...
