MTB 219 - Jacqueline Pearce's former houseboat
clareblues1
I recently discovered that MTB 219, the houseboat on which Jacqueline Pearce lived during some of the period she was filming Blake's 7, is now undergoing restoration to its former WWII glory as a Motor Torpedo Boat.

The vessel has already undergone extensive work to repair the hull and has been launched back onto the water and is currently in Bridgwater Docks in Somerset. Unfortunately until the society that owns it finds a permanent home for their collection of historic military boats, they are not open to visitors.

There is however, an appeal for funds to help with the restoration and I have just donated 25 to the cause.

Perhaps some of you might also be willing to donate something to help and I am going to run off some of the photos for Jacqueline to see tomorrow Smile
The foolish reject what they see;
the wise reject what they think.

That's super nice of you Clareblues1. That boat was mentioned fondly in Jacqueline's autobiography 'From Byfleet To the Bush', so I'm sure she will appreciate that.

I'll look into that appeal link.

I believe I read that her houseboat was berthed adjacent to one that Steven Pacey lived in. If so, that would give additional meaning to the dialogue of "sand", about being "the girl next door."

That's exactly right, Dtar (welcome to the forum, by the way) -

When Jacqueline Pearce moved into her houseboat, she and Steven Pacey had a conversation about her being 'the girl next door'. Jacks recounted this to Tanith Lee, who wrote it into the script for 'Sand'.

Actually, that dialogue came about precisely because of that situation!!!
