Do you have a favorite go-to episode?
Anniew
I agree Travisina that watching Blake is like watching an inevitable car crash .... No...don't..please stop...nooooo.

I love parts of Horizon ( Avon versus the plants as I shall always now think of it thanks to Down and Safe)

Shadow - just cos it's soooo good

Rumours and Sarcophagus Star One Aftermath and Power Play because they are all so well done.

I adore season 4 for reasons I'd rather not examine ( I also love Wagner 's operas and Meatloaf which goes some way to explaining it)

My guilty pleasures are Harvest, parts of Moloch and Power because they are just so enjoyably funny!

You know I'll watch any episode if I get the chance.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

Duel, for the atmosphere and music...those aren't ghosts! and one of Avons best lines

I I'd go by the episode I tend to watch the most which is the final one Blake, but Seek Locate Destroy comes a close second.
The foolish reject what they see;
the wise reject what they think.

When I go on my holidays I take my android thingy. Daughter no 2 has downloaded Mission to Destiny, Deliverance, Shadow and Rumours and so while that lot are all watching the TV or Videos...I'm curled up with my fave Avon episodes..DO NOT DISTURB!!!!
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.

Second place for an episode without Tarrant? I'm surprised!

Well, at least there is a hugbot in it ... Pfft

Gotta be Gambit, though I find myself watching Sand alot these days.

sweevo
Gambit is an OK episode but not much actually happens in it, although the low-budget "Ocean's 11"-esque subplot with Avon, Vila and Orac does redeem it somewhat.

Angry Angel
Gambit's full of flavour, great fun to watch. My favourites would be Shadow, Star One, Aftermath, City and Deathwatch.

Do you have any idea about what stock music was used? I know a piece titled "Countdown" appeared during the early Travis scenes, but I don't know any of the rest.

I just rewatched Gambit - again - and I really like how it highlights that you should watch out for Avon's actions when he starts to sound friendly:

" how did it go?...good, terrific"
"we had a quiet time - played a little chess..."
all rather innocuous, but in a tone of voice that should set all the alarm bells ringing.
However, Blake and co only question Vila..

sweevo
I think it's because Vila's already pulled off (or tried to pull off) something similar (Space City in Shadow), while Avon would be more discreet when doing something of this nature.

The more I think about this the harder it is to choose one - Definitely Gambit, but also Duel and then Sweevo mentioned Shadow and I'm like ????? can't decide!

Rumours, because it has a lot of Avon in it and because the first part where turns out he let himself be tortured just to get Shrinker says a lot about him.

Star One is a great Avon episode- the snipping "Be informative and I may let you die" at Travis is really funny.

percusski
Have to agree with Rumours Of Death, definitely a great episode with some excellent acting and atmosphere. Ultraworld another good one...

Anniew
Probably Aftermath because it feels like the start of something more hopeful and Avon is very lovely in it.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

I just read a post from Littlesue, talking about her 'Android thingie'

Just wonder if Avon kept his Avalon Android Thingie to keep himself amused in between episodes Grin
