'9 Tailors' is brilliant, as is 'Gaudy Night'.

When I was a teenager we had a collection of her short stories In the Teeth of the Evidence. Beautifully crafted, every one a gem - a masterclass in mystery storytelling.

One of the stories in that collection really stayed with me. The artist with the shaped sofa? Brilliantly cold murder.

I loved 'Nebuchadnezer' - such a simple premise, based on Hamlet's 'guilty creatures sitting at a play', with a great twist in the tail.

Galactica 1880.

A graphic novel that is a steampunk version of Battlestar Galactica, set as an Alternate Universe Prequel to the classic TV series.

By Tony Lee, who always makes me think and always makes me laugh.
