Maybe because they are in B&W?

The Cybermen I don't like at the recent ones. They look like a 'Transformer' or a just a great big clump of metal or something - somehow they don't seem real enough to be scary.

The NuWho Cybermen just don't work. They aren't a menace, they make a silly clomping noise as they work and the silly "Delete" catchphrase is lazy writing. They have lost all the original premise of a race desperate to survive and are now a "bunch of tin soldiers"

They suck! They also have a dumb alternate reality origin.

I like them more too, all three of the B&W versions, but B&W does hide faults.

It did hide the faults, but I also think the silver colour of the suits blends into the picture better in B/W; the 70s and 80s Cybermen clash with the rest of the design, except on Telos in Attack where they used silver for everything!
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

The uniforms are just fabulous!

So camp and silly, but I like the story nevertheless

Some silly Pat comedy as he is collecting specimens

"I'm just collecting specimens." LOL

So you like the modern day era companions best?

Not really; Ian and Barbara are right up there along with Steven, Jamie, Victoria and Polly from the 1960s. Sarah, Turlough and Tegan, Romana and Mel from the rest of the classic era; Rose, Amy and Clara from the latest episodes...

Very sparse on the incidental music as the Cyberman appears behind Polly and attacks them both.

Not sure if that works

Pat Troughton could switch between comic and concerned so quickly and in such a believable way!

Some extremely dodgy science when the Cyberman breaks in and uses the bags to plug the hole in the wall!

It's partly because there wasn't any music composed for this story; they only had atmospheres, and sound effects, from the Radiophonic Workshop and a choice of library tracks.

Slip from Pat there?

"Are you suggesting I'm not confident to carry out these tests?"

Should that have been competent?

I really love episodes where the Doctor is an investigative scientist, like in The Silurians too.
