Rewatch Oz - Dr Who: The Tenth Planet
Spaceship Dispatcher
There's a good atmosphere and tension about this story, with the threat itself being out of reach of the protagonists and making everything feel hopeless and doom laden. Only the OTT performance of Robert Beatty, chewing the sets perhaps a little too hard, disrupts the mood created imo.

Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Ben has very much taken on the action role previously held by Ian and Steven.

Yes indeed! Those who say the companion role is traditionally female forget that the show having two regular male protagonists was the format for the whole of the 1960s; until 1971 if you count the Brigadier as, even though he never travelled in the Tardis, he was still a regular character.

It keeps this story moving. In a episode without the Doctor and almost without Cybermen, he becomes the driving force of the episode. He intentions are to save his son, but his bullying and controlling nature means he goes completely the wrong way about it.

Nice tension here towards the cliffhanger

Three males for most of this season, although Jamie's presence does eventually undermine Ben. Ben and Polly's departure is nearly as badly handled as poor Dodo's.

It's like a cruel joke that the only episode missing is the most important one.

"This body of mine is wearing a bit thin" comes at the beginning of the episode.

General Cutler does work well as a clever parody of General Ripper, from the film Dr Strangelove released only a couple of years before...
