@Clare, at first Endor cuddly toys sent my tea over my keyboard. Despite your warning it happened again when I read your script story. So exquisite funny. Can I get a copy of that script, signed by Blair Cloos please?
Oh, and how do you think I can do my household chores properly with leather undies and flowers in black-studded vases in my mind from now on? Perhaps I should take Anniew’s advice and empty my mind by drawing….

Thank you Lurena and others for your comments on my funny stories. Avon is such a strong character, that I find almost the only way to send him up is to make him the opposite.

But it works!

And he hasn't even put his apron on and started making cakes yet.

Clare, your posts need to come with a health warning. Luckily I'd finished my cup of tea, or there would have been a liquid-keyboard interface just now!

He! He! Of course what we really need are some of Lurena's wonderful sketches to illustrate these scenes.

You know Clare I bet he'd make good cakes. He's such a perfectionist! Whether he'd let anyone eat them is another matter. I suppose he might sell them.

More funny stories ... great. I love to see our heroes doing completely different things from those we see them doing in the series ... like riding bumper cars or having a beer while watching Avon doing the ironing.

And a serious story as well:

Seconded. Actually, this was the exact thought that crossed my mind when reading the story.

With apologies to CB, SD and PS:

Blue Hobo

It had been a hell of a ride. He had stowed away in the 10.44 train from Horsham, and since then he had been on permanent alert in order to avoid the conductors. When the train had reached London, they were already closing in on him. He had left the train at Victoria station, taking the tube to Euston, where he jumped aboard a northward bound train. Another hide-and-seek game with the conductors ensued, so that he finally got off at Northampton. They were looking for him everywhere, and his blue coat was not exactly perfect camouflage. When he looked around, he found an old shed where he could hide.

It was dark inside, and the smell of oil and grease was overwhelming. Nonetheless he rummaged around in order to find some food. His stomach growled so loud that he feared the train dispatchers might hear him.
He did not find something to eat, but a strange gadget that intrigued him. In the dim beam of light that shone through a crack in the wall he could read a few letters - PGTM. His friends had tried to teach him to read, write and calculate, and he knew the letters all right. But what kind of word was pgtm?

Maybe it was one of these newfangled computer games. It would not satisfy his hunger, but could help him to while away the time. There was a big red button on the front side. He pressed it and ...

... and suddenly he was somewhere else.

Cool

The kitchen aboard the Liberator was hot as hell. Avon stood in front of the oven and watched his creations. He was wearing his Teddy bear apron (and I leave it to your imagination what else he was wearing ... mind you, it was really hot in front of the oven!). The biscuits looked promising. The dough - made according to an ancient recipe - had been delicious, and the shapes were exquisite. Avon was proud of his collection of cookie cutters (courtesy of Vila, who had nicked them on one of Blake’s raids and given them to Avon as a Christmas present): It encompassed shapes of coins, computer components, proddy tools, teddy bears and symbols as used in circuit diagrams.

The timer rang. Avon opened the door of the oven. A swell of hot air swept over his skin. Carefully he pulled out the baking tray and put it down on the table. Dozens of golden brown biscuits looked at him. Baked to perfection! Now let them cool, and then the feast shall begin!

In this very moment a strange creature suddenly appeared out of thin air. It was completely covered in blue fur, eyes like cueballs goggling at the top of this head, and its mouth was wide open. In its clumsy paws, it held a strange device.

The creature immediately sensed the smell of the biscuits that pervaded the kitchen. ‘Cookies, cookies, cookies!’ it exclaimed, and before Avon could say 'Baldrick' (or Tony Robinson or something similar), his precious biscuits were history.

‘Great game’, the creature exclaimed, ‘next level!’ It grinned from ear to ear, touched a button on the device and was gone.

Thanks for a lovely read Hugbot. I am having some happy moments imagining Avon baking computer circuit biscuits in a state of interesting undress. Would love to see Lurena's illustration but I guess this is a family site.

These fic challenges are like a treasure box, full of lovely surprises.

That scene, alluded to in 'Countdown' while Avon and Grant are disarming the bomb, has always stuck in my mind since the show first aired. And of course, it sort of refutes Avon's claim that doesn't know if he could kill someone (to Jenna in Cygnus Alpha.) Maybe upto that point he hadn't killed anyone, but then the visa chappie got greedy...when pushed and under such circumstances a person is capable of doing something rash...and then have to face the consequences.

I better not tell about the visions and the urge to draw illustrations...I'm having overwork and Avon isn't exactly co-operative ...
Seriously I'm busy drawing and it is 3.30 am.

And in my mind another opinion regularly pops up: that Avon himself didn't kill that visas man. After all Avon was hit first (Countdown) and got wounded so much that he passed out shortly after. His condition must have been bad when he pulled his tigger. But there could have been someone else, shadowing him, who hit the visas man in order to let Avon run.

Aww, Lurena, what a lovely drawing! Avon looks so focused ... he seems to be really devoted to his household duties!

Thank you all for your comments on Blue Hobo. I am glad that I could make you smile a little after my devastating previous story.

I didn't. That was an allusion to another cookie monster fan on this site. I am convinced that the cookie monster lives at his presidential residence in Horsham, guarded by an angel and playing with decimas. Wink
