Saba, I am not sure if Servalan and Avon would be a good match for a romantic relationship, if that's what you mean.
Jacqueline Pearce once mentioned that Servalan was "potty" about Avon,
but a relationship without trust leads to nowhere.
Perhaps Jacqueline and Paul had some refreshing ideas to develop a relationship between them?

Didn't Paul say they are like the two sides of one coin?
They are both Federation originated, they are both very clever.
Servalan looks for power and fame, Avon wants privacy, anonymity.
I thought Servalan is real evil, whereas Avon is not.

I agree that there might have been many very interesting scene's for them and I would have liked to see more Servalan and Avon interactions.
(is that a replacement of the Avon-Blake interactions for me, I wonder?)

No, I certainly don't see them as a happy romantic relationship - Avon/Servalan, that is - (but then some of the great romantic relationships from fiction were hardly happy). It's the fact that that image shows them both as equally powerful individuals - it made me wonder how they'd have reacted had the tables been turned.

And - have you spotted - Servalan is reacting to the person, and Avon to the situation?!! [No male/female stereotypes, there, then Grin]

Ah, clever.

But Servalan's strength is in that she is unashamedly a woman through and through. While Avon's weakness is always when he "thinks" with his heart.

Onto animations: I have to say I am not keen on Paul's hair in "Harvest". Why did they have to blow dry his hair like a longer version of a medieval monk'?! Paul Darrow's got such a nice, shiny head of hair, I really like it when it's a bit more carelessly done.

The smile however is just lovely. It is Paul, all credit must go to him. To produce a genuine, credible smile within the boundaries of that piece of dialogue- well done!

I spend a lot of time wanting to carelessly rearrange Avon's hair.Wink

Paul is a superb actor! And Avon a superb character!

About the hair:
According to Paul he regularly went out of the make up with the words: "Do I really have to look like that?"

For me too the "carelessly done" look is what I like for Kerr Avon. *softly runs fingers through it in dreams*
I am always looking for screenshots with that, preferably the young Avon S1, S2. *blush*

Thoughts after the rewatch of HoK yesterday:

Did the Sopron influence Avon? ( I think it did, but I have to think it over )
We will never know, because Avon doe not share his thoughts.
He was extremely fascinated by this creature.
Where and why did Avon get the idea to go down and look for the Sopron?

I forgot to ask you to explain, please, Ms Wooster.
Do you mean "sentiment" (breeds weakness) ?
Do you mean in his , or in our opinion?

If you mean when Avon listens to his heart, his feelings, I can't agree with you.
I think:
These are the moments he saves the crew.
These are the moments he allows himself to show he cares.

Perhaps he will cynically call himself weak in attempt to hide his true nature?

Avon's feelings about sentiment are well known. He must therefore find a logical reason to act heroically.

Self preservation is his usual excuse, as in Killer (we need those crystals). In Horizon he spends considerable time waffling about whether or not to leave the others behind. Zen's revelation that three pursuit ships are en route gives him the excuse he needs (in his own mind) to rescue the others. If he were truly inclined to run out on his friends ( a term his would loathe at this point) he would have done so as soon as he lost contact with Cally.

For a moment back to the hair item:

I know, I am contradicting myself occasionally when it comes why I am fond of the Avon character.
His being is the most what I like, but I find myself judging his clothes and hair more often than I like to admit.

With the rewatch of City on the Edge of the World coming up on thursday I remebered there is a remarkable magic hairstyle change when Avon, at the teleport console, is waiting for Vila:

i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac236/neoantares/HF/hairinCotEdgeotWorld.gif

I don't know if the mysterious hairdresser also gave Tarrant a treatment. We will see on thursday....

I prefer the hair in the first pic, although the style in the second was very popular in the 70s, wasn't it called the Purdy cut, after a character in the New Avengers? Like you, Lurena, my liking for the character Avon is based on a number of things from the class acting to the depth of the character portrayed. But I have to admit to a little shallowness, in that I find him extremely sexy, too!
Think of it as evolution in action.

Oh he is, he is absolutely!
The sexy, geeky computer genius! What more can I desire?
Manicmama you make me confess the thing I am normally too shy to talk about:
I have reason for a huge crush on Kerr Avon.....
*blush and hide in the most distant shadowy corner with his picture*

I'm intrigued! Lurena, do you have a particular reason for your "crush", and not just the obvious ones? (sexy, intelligent, independent, etc.) MIne would be that I saw him for the first time at around age 16, a vulnerable time for most girls, especially perhaps in the more naive 70s. He seemed so different from any other male character at the time, in that I couldn't make out if he was supposed to be a "hero" or a "baddie", fairly clear cut generalisations which covered most other acting at the time. Computers hadn't been in general use for long, and household computers were rare, so the term "nerd" hadn't really come into use, and even then, the nerd image wouldn't have fitted him. He was so outside the box, that I think he (and the series) altered my view forever on what made good quality tv. And because of that, he has always held a place in my heart. Swaggering around in those boots helped, of course, and the man doesn't even have the decency to stop being sexy as he gets older!

Paula was nearly 40, er 30 when she met Paul for the first time and she still melted.

Can't speak for what makes a man sexy, but I imagine it's the same as I find sexy in a woman:

Confidence, Intelligence, Wit, and looking good in a tight leather outfit.

It's difficult to talk about and I am too emotional to give details:
When you've lost your home and family at young age, you have to study hard and survive and some time later your mentor( she became my B7 friend !) in student's house shows you how you can rely on a very skillful virtual friend and you, in your loneliness, are comforted by this character, and it still works in later lifetime when tragic happens in your life again, you have a love for a life time!
Had nothing to do with sex in the first place.

I never needed to bother other people with my life experiences.
So I think I might have a rather unique and naïve affection for, or crush on Avon.

Oh I think I have not been quite clear, in my shyness
What I meant has nothing to do with sex , I like computers and technics and needed someone for support, an example for surviving behaviour and to look upon, just have a talk with, when I wrote this:
