Rewatch - Doctor Who
Spaceship Dispatcher
The Story: Doctor Who - The Caves of Androzani
The Date: Wednesday the 10th of June, 2015
The Time: 7.30pm UK time

Starring Peter Davison, Christopher Gable, Martin Cochrane, John Normington and Nicola Bryant, with Maurice Roves, Robert Glenister and Roy Holder.

One of the very best stories in all of Doctor Who history! All are welcome to join Paula, trevor travis and myself for our rewatch of this absolute classic.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Roy Holder, my favorite actor at Dimensions a few years ago. And Martin Cochrane- wasn't he at the con too, SD? Is he the actor married to Adrienne Burgess? Oh, and Robert Glenister? Favorite of mine too! Got his autograph somewhere! Looking forward to this story!!

Yes indeed! Meeting Martin Cochrane was possibly my most special highlight of the convention. Caves of Androzani became one of my first Doctor Who stories when it was repeated in the early 1990s and right away was also one of my personal favourites; General Chellak was my favourite character in the story, and in turn was therefore one of my first favourite characters and a factor in drawing me into the show and therefore fandom. So essentially, by playing one of my main tv heroes when I was at a very impressionable age, Martin Cochrane as an actor played a significant role in shaping my life and what friends I would make. Really nice person to meet, and someone who most definitely lived up to and exceeded my childhood image and expectations.

The half hour or so that we spent with Brian Croucher and Roy Holder was another great experience of the weekend!

Ah, yes, the infamous coffee clatch with Brian and Roy and with only you, me, Brad and TT with the boys all to ourselves. Too bad they hardly let us get a word in edgewise, they were so entertaining. Great memories.

Where the Tenth Planet people tried to stop Brian and Roy reminiscing about theatre work by saying "yes, but what about your Dr Who episodes" and all four of us were saying "no, no! We know about Dr Who already, let them talk about all the other shows that we don't know about!"

And then there was the following Jackie/Brian panel which followed straight after. It was supposed to be largely Doctor Who themed, but what was actually ended up with was a B7 panel in the middle of a DW convention Grin

Just a reminder of this rewatch this evening, starting at 7.30pm

The commentary on this dvd was recorded by Peter Davison, Nicola Bryant and director Graeme Harper.

Ah Peri, I had almost forgotten! Nicola is lovely, really, but Peri, very annoying at times.

The effect of the mountains in the background is good; I think it might be a glass shot but I'm not sure.

If Peri is supposed to be an American, she pronounced 'glass' wrong.

With that terrain, they may see the odd Moon Disc there.

The accent is coming and going at this point. It improves a lot in Season 22... well from an English point of view in any case Grin
