Rewatch - Doctor Who
Spaceship Dispatcher
The Story: Doctor Who - The Hand of Fear
The Date: Wednesday the 27th of May, 2015
The Time: 7.30pm UK time

Starring Tom Baker and Lis Sladen, in her final episodes as Sarah Jane until K-9 & Company some years later, this story was unusual in that the Tardis lands in a quarry that turns out not to be an alien world but actually a quarry! There are some good performances here, especially from Judith Paris and Glyn Houston, and some iconic moments along the way too. It's effectively a three-parter on Earth linked to a one part short story featuring just one of the characters from the opening episodes, a narrative method used a couple of times in the Holmes-era of the show.

All are welcome to join Paula, Panna, Trevor Travis and myself for this classic Doctor Who rewatch!
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Ah, the S&S Assignment 3 crossover story....

One of the coolest aliens was Eldrad, the female version played by Judith Paris. The costume was amazing, making her seem like she was carved out of solid crystalline rock. Looking forward to seeing that. And wasn't some of this filmed at Oldbury? It's been years and I cannot remember.

One of DW's best-ever in-jokes in this: Sarah & the Doctor turn up at a quarry, and Sarah mistakes it for an alien world Grin Grin

Off we go.

A proper title sequence, without stupid clocks in it Wink

The big parka jackets saved them from having to design extra alien costumes Grin Grin

I taped this episode in 1987. I may have seen it once since. Always a favorite of mine.

Look out for Zukan (in episode 2 or 3, I think).

Without the wild colored, swirly hair presumably.
