Worst set ever?
winnie-l
Good thread dragonq!

A vote for one of the worst sets (does it qualify as a "set"?!?!) goes to this one (main & closeup):

seis.bris.ac.uk/~phpwl/37.m-planet2.jpg
(Quick everyone, it's from.... ?)

Having said that, I quite like all the rest of the sets in this episode, esp the interiors!!!

The whole business with the door, by expression & head gestures ("Go on in -") ("No, you go first.") is hilarious (IMHO)

So which episode is this from and what are the Lego bricks meant to represent?

The Open University's Popular Culture edition where they compared Blake's 7 with Poldark was excellant, but that went out quite late at night...we can't have the Beeb saying nice, positive things about B7 can we????
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

It's where William Franklyn's daughter lives.

It isn't even a set, it's a poorly-drawn sketch that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Richard's other main story was The Gilded Cage..a bit racey for 7pm viewing...I mean, he's in a bed, in his Jim jams and in comes a young lady with a menu and there ensues a conversation full of double meanings!!!

Sue -Gilded cage was Bill Gaunts fave story personally, but I prefer Happening, Interrogation was Damons, and Panther was Bastedos,- lovely documentary - We Were the Champions on the new dvd boxset, where they all meet up again, very charming!
Good commentaries on the Beginning and Autokill, first and last broadcast stories...I love to watch the Search, such a thrill to have a original costume prop from the story, especially as its such a prominent piece!

Well, it's an ok IMHO painting, but it's very detectably a painting...... On first seeing it in the episode one couldn't help wondering, "who thought THAT would be ok?!" Never mind, it doesn't last long & none of the B7 makers ever thought it would ever be seen again. Ever. Did they?!

... & also why I wondered if it even qualified as a "set"....

Did you know that the dictionary definition of moloch is a harmless spiny lizard of grotesque appearance and not a piece of KFC at all!

meegat39
Well according to Jeff Lindsay who wrote the Dexter books, Moloch was an evil god with a bull's head who encouraged human sacrifices

forgive Moloch for its sets, the female costume designs make up for it! and there are some lovely psychotics in the episode, Avon not included!

Moloch was an ancient Ammonite god mentioned in the Old Testament. Wikipedia notes Moloch has been "used figuratively in English literature [...] to refer to a person or thing demanding or requiring a very costly sacrifice."

It's an interesting contrast, given the detailed model we see of Servalan's ship on the landing pad in the same episode. I wonder if those minarets indicate the Amagons used to live there.

Yes I know and the depiction in the book is pretty accurate. He was quite keen on child sacrifices... by fire!

I thought the set for Servalans Command Ship used for series 3 wasn't all that good. They had all those funny pattern pictures hanging on the walls.

I was always transfixed by those.
At first, I thought they were maps of whatever planet they might be orbiting.
