A Dummy's Guide to Blake's 7
SERIES 1:
"The Way Back" - Blake meets some old friends he doesn't remember. They die! Blake is sent to Cygnus Alpha
"Spacefall" - Blake, Avon & Jenna escape on Liberator
"Cygnus Alpha" - they rescue Gan and Vila from Cygnus Alpha, & Brian Blessed shouts at them!
"Time Squad" - they meet Cally & blow up a communications centre
"The Web" - they meet strange ex-Auron creatures & the Decimas, Cally is taken over by aliens
"Seek-Locate-Destroy" - we first meet Servalan & Travis, Travis captures Cally... can Blake save her? (Yes!)
"Mission to Destiny" - Blake's Seven's 'Agatha Christie mystery' set on the space ship Ortega
"Duel" - Blake & Travis have a Duel courtesy of two dead women! The ugly one helps Travis cheat, the pretty one helps Blake.
"Project Avalon" - the crew narrowly avoid an unpleasant death by plague via an android Avalon and a little purple ball!
"Breakdown" - Gan's limiter malfunctions and he goes mad, and Avon finds a bolt-hole (briefly!)
"Bounty" - Amagon pirates take over the Liberator (how stupid to fall for THAT old trick!) - but not for long!
"Deliverance" - Avon meets Meegat and becomes a legend
“Orac" - they acquire Orac & he predicts stuff. Servalan climbs through damp caves in an inappropriate costume.
SERIES 2:
"Redemption" - the Liberator's real owners want it back
"Shadow" - Blake tries to join up with the Terra Nostra, Orac is taken over by aliens & Cally meets the moon discs
"Weapon" - they find and lose IMIPAK, we meet Carnell the Puppeteer, meet clones of Blake & discover Travis has had plastic surgery and become Brian Croucher!!!
"Horizon" - Avon saves everyone from the mines & has some great lines
"Pressure Point" – Blake gets it wrong, and Gan dies
"Trial" - Blake feels guilty about Gan dying & carelessly teleports to a carnivorous planet, where he makes friends with a flea. She dies! Meanwhile, Travis is on trial for mass murder
"Killer" - Avon meets an old friend, and kills him, while a plague decimates the planet. Everyone else dies!
"Hostage" - Travis holds Blake's cousin, Inga, hostage
"Countdown" - Avon meets Del Grant, the brother of his dead girlfriend & heroically (aah!) saves him and a planet from Certain Death. (NB. When the show was originally released on video, each video tape held 2 episodes. Tape 11 (Hostage & Countdown) is the only one where in both episodes all the guest star good guys don't die!
"Voice from the Past" - Blake has some problems with his brain and Travis dresses up as a mummy!
”Gambit"- Avon & Vila break the bank at Freedom City, Blake searches for the location of Star One & Travis has a disarming experience!
"The Keeper" - Jenna gets engaged to the Sharl of the Goths. He dies! Blake is still looking for the location of Star One
”Star One" - he finds it... and stumbles upon the Andromedan invasion. Travis almost kills Blake. Avon kills Travis. Servalan becomes President. Blake says he has always trusted Avon! (snigger)
SERIES 3:
"Aftermath" - after the battle Avon lands on Sarran and kisses Servalan and Dayna. Servalan kills Dayna’s father.
"Powerplay" - Avon regains control of Liberator by joining forces with Tarrant. Vila & Cally narrowly avoid being used for spare part surgery
"Volcano" - ridiculous plot ending in stalemate between Liberator & Servalan and a planet blowing itself up
"Dawn of the Gods" - another deeply absurd plot where they fall into a black hole & are captured by the Thaarn, who falls in love with Cally! (NB. It was only worth buying Video No. 15 containing Volcano & Dawn of the Gods because otherwise the nice picture of the Season 3 crew on the video tape spines would have been incomplete and looked odd on your shelves!)
"Harvest of Kairos" - the crew are marooned on a planet full of unbelievably tacky giant ants, but Avon tricks Servalan and they get back to Liberator
“City at the Edge of the World" - Bayban the Butcher, played by Colin Baker, blows up a planet and Vila meets Kerrill and saves the day. Kerrill falls in love with Vila after some unseen recreational activity on the transporter. Bayban dies, Kerrill doesn't!
"Children of Auron" - in a supreme example of 'overkill', Servalan destroys the planet Auron in another attempt to capture Liberator. Cally finds her sister Zelda - she dies. Servalan makes some clone babies which also die!
"Rumours of Death" - Avon meets up with his lost love Anna Grant, and kills her!
"Sarcophagus" - fantasy episode where Cally is taken over by an alien but Avon kisses her and defeats the alien (better than it sounds!)
"Ultraworld" - Vila defeats the giant brain planet by telling it bad jokes. Cally is taken over again. (As bad as it sounds!)
"Moloch" - Avon outmanoeuvres a glove puppet and Vila finds a friend. He dies! The glove puppet dies too.
"Death-Watch" - Tarrant finds his long-lost brother just in time to see him killed in combat. Avon gets to kiss Servalan again, but doesn't enjoy it quite as much
"Terminal" - Avon flies Liberator through some green slime looking for Blake. Zen dies. (Sob!)
SERIES 4:
"Rescue" - Dorian rescues the crew from Terminal & tries to kill them. He dies! Cally is killed on Terminal but we meet Soolin.
"Power" - Men vs. women and Avon is hit over the head a few times. Avon kisses Pella, then kills her. They acquire the Scorpio
“Traitor" - Servalan loses the Presidency and her name, Tarrant & Dayna save some rebels
"Star Drive" - the Scorpio gets new engines from the Space Rats. Who?
"Animals" - Dayna meets her old tutor, falls in love, out again, in again and then he dies! Voted worst ever episode in innumerable polls!
"Headhunter" - Orac joins forces with a headless android and calls Avon 'Master'. Avon is nice to someone. She dies!
"Assassin" - Servalan buys Avon in the slave market and wants to be his Mistress(!). Tarrant falls in love with a crab. She dies!
"Games" - they look for Feldon crystals and play computer games with Belkov. He dies.
"Sand" - Servalan/Sleer finds her old love but he is dead, so she makes friends with Tarrant, surrounded by vampire sand
"Gold" - Avon meets another old friend but doesn't kill him. (Yes, really!!) But Servalan kills him and makes lots of money
"Orbit" - Avon plays hide and seek on the Orbit shuttle & Vila vows to go on a diet!
"Warlord" - Avon sets up a disastrous alliance and Tarrant falls in love again. She dies! So does her father. And their friends.
"Blake" - Everybody dies. Except maybe Avon. But maybe they were just stunned...
The End.
